I’d been keeping my eye out for New Zealand Bitter-cress Cardamine corymbosa on Silver Street in Bradford -on-Avon for several years, so I was delighted and relieved to finally see it this March. Such a compact, pretty member of that family! #FavouritePlant #WildflowerHour

My overall #FavouritePlant of 2026 for #WildflowerHour is probably this Slender Thistle from the car park at
@rspbengland.bsky.social Pagham Harbour in May. I'm normally there later in the summer and miss this beauty. It's not hugely rare but I've not seen it anywhere else.

Wet weather has encouraged a second flush of flowers in:
Narrow-leaved Ragwort & Blue Fleabane,
Sand Lucerne & Common Calamint.

My #favouriteplant of the year so far is this Early-purple Orchid, spotted in May on a roadside verge near Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal. #wildflowerhour

Another #favouriteplant for #wildflowerhour the lovely frilliness that is a marsh helleborine (another orchid on my doorstep, and has to be a favourite - so lucky to have these in walking distance of my home, to be fair its a longish walk, but still lucky!)

My #favouriteplant was always going to be an orchid but which one? This Small White Orchid (Pseudorchis albida) isn’t the most spectacular but it was hard won ! I camped in the middle of nowhere and braved the June rain to see this individual. #wildflowerhour @wildflowerhour.bsky.social
