Love to see this review of From the Diary of Madame Mao, the co-winner of our first-ever literary translation prize and one of the inaugural volumes in our new literary translation series. #booksky #translation
Hey, the CMU Press Games series is live. We've been planning this for a couple years, but it's amazing to be at this point. Submit your Anthropocene-themed games about humans + nonhumans + technology in our weird (post)modern/future times, for a new *peer-reviewed* anthology series.
CMU Press Games: Because we believe that game design can be a creative, technical, *and* scholarly endeavor that deserves peer review, academic publication, and recognition!
Series co-editors: @ludopolitics.bsky.social & Ashley Werlinich
Series editorial board: @derekham.bsky.social, Alenda Chang, @edmondchang.bsky.social, Renee Jackson, Jesse Schall, @solarserver.games, @guyintheblackhat.bsky.social, William White, & Jose Sagal
This first issue is on the theme of Strange Worlds: Science, Technology, and the Anthropocene. We welcome submissions that speak to our past, present and future entanglements with science, technology, and the environment by November 30. Submit here: promptuary.lps.library.cmu.edu
Focused on game design rather than games studies, Promptuary will be a compendium of short games published as rules texts, print-and-play materials, and other printable formats.
Announcing the newest peer-reviewed series for Carnegie Mellon University Press: games!
This week during @meaningfulplay.bsky.social, we're launching our first-ever CFG (call for games) for Promptuary, a playable anthology.
