@coversongoftheday.bsky.socialI'm going to bet the roots go older -- I hear a kinship to zydeco, and the Lousiana French and Quebecois French share roots ("Cajun" is just a corruption of "Arcadian", after all). So I suspect if we went to Acady in the 1700s we would hear something that reminded us of both.
