My work is about representation, culture, and preserving our stories through art. I create handcrafted sculptures celebrating Black icons, creators, and everyday legends, giving our history a physical form that can be collected and passed on.

Sat down with FOX to talk Rappin Max, created by Eric Orr, and why sharing Black & Brown creators’ stories matters. That’s what LBO Collective is about. Sold out, but the waitlist is open. Link in bio.

Eric Orr created Rappin’ Max Robot in 1986, the first hip-hop comic book. Nearly 40 years later, we had the honor of bringing Max into physical form as an art figure. The first release sold out. Waitlist now open.link in bio @letsbeonyx

Being a co-founder of LBO Collective lets me work with original IP still owned by Black & Brown creators, bringing their stories into physical form and sharing their impact on culture. Projects like Rappin’ Max Robot, whose first release sold out and is now on waitlist.🧵

🧵As a Black creative, I know what we create today can become someone else’s history tomorrow. This project is about creating our own work, preserving what came before us, and carrying those stories forward. 1986–2026. 40 Years of Rappin’ Max Robot. Sold out. Waitlist open. Link in bio.

🧵Almost 40 years later, I had the opportunity to study Eric’s original work and help translate Max from a drawing into a physical art figure for the first time with @lbocollective.

And now that release has sold out too.

That full-circle moment isn’t lost on me.

Eric also connected with Keith Haring through the ’80s New York street art scene. Haring supported the production of Rappin’ Max Robot, including purchasing an ad on the back cover and helping support the original printing. Only 500 copies of that first issue were made.

🧵In 1986, Eric created Rappin’ Max Robot, the first hip-hop comic book ever created. Coming out of New York’s graffiti and early hip-hop scene, Eric created his own visual language and found a way to put that culture onto the page when there was no blueprint for it.

🧵A lot of my work comes from wanting to create the things I didn’t see growing up. Building our own characters, telling our own stories and creating physical pieces that represent our culture.

Working with Eric Orr reminds me that Black artists have been doing exactly that long before me.

🧵As a Black creative, working on Rappin’ Max Robot means more to me than simply sculpting another figure.

Our first project featuring a character created by a Black artist has officially sold out, and I’ve been thinking about what that really means to me.
