Small electrical firms best placed to drive Germany's industrial renewal rely on China as their main supplier, competitor and sometimes customer, leaving Berlin with a dilemma: the fastest way to scale them up is with the very Chinese components it wants to reduce reliance on.

Why are we still allowing UAE-based finance to operate as if it was legit business when it is the heartland of forgery and shadow Fx payments allowing Russian forces to keep murdering Ukranians?

Excellent analysis. TLDR: it’s agribusiness: “Where agribusiness carries more weight, Lula lost more. In municipalities where agribusiness accounts for more than half of the local economy, the typical drop was 8.8 percentage points; where it weighs less than 5%, it was 3.9”

Excellent @ericlonners.bsky.social post on bond market dynamics, Japan, and the bond-equity correlation over time.

Takeaway #1 ("Dalio fallacy"): The rise in yields is not about debt – unless you're unlucky enough to be a eurozone member state.

Of the large European economies, Italy is most exposed to the impact of EU methane rules. Over a third of its gas comes from Algeria, whose state company Sonatrach doesn't take part in UN methane rules at all.

The European Commission's new rating system grades data centres on efficiency, but does not show their emissions or how much power and water they use. It also lets sites partly powered by fossil fuels present themselves as renewable by buying green certificates over a whole year.
