This game has a special place in the hearts of so many people, and to all the Volitionites that contributed to this amazing franchise: A massive thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The series brought so many people joy, entertainment, and happiness.

The series would go on to have 3 sequels, a spinoff, and a full reboot in the future, making it Volition's longest running series, and the one with the most entries in a single franchise. Today, Saints Row remains a perfect time capsule into the mid-2000s hip-hop and pop culture.

The success of the game would put Volition, a studio behind many hits such as Red Faction and Descent, on the map for many players. Many features within Saints Row would go on to become genre standards, such as mobile phones, weapons wheel, mission replay, and weapon storing.

The game would come out to massive critical acclaim, be nominated for 3 GOTY awards, and with its immersive gameplay and riveting story managed to attract a dedicated fanbase who fell in love with Volition's unique take on the open-world crime simulator genre.

Today, 29th August, marks 20 years since Saints Row first released. The series marks a massive milestone in gaming history, being a first open world shooter to release on 7th Gen, only 10 months after Xbox 360's debut.
