thank you to everyone who got us here โค๏ธ โ€ฆ and let us know what you think! ๐Ÿ™

@nuxt.comOct 11, 2026, 1:54 PM

oh, and the devtools panel is all new ๐Ÿ’…

you can easily see every family resolved, which provider it comes from, where the face is used, and any warnings ...

๐Ÿ‘‰ plus, it's built on devfra.me - a framework-neutral foundation for devtools from @antfu.me

@nuxt.comOct 11, 2026, 1:54 PM

plus, some long-requested new features: ๐ŸŽ›๏ธ arbitrary variable axes โœ‚๏ธ subset fonts down to the glyphs you use ๐Ÿ‹๏ธ named weights - `weights: ['medium', 'semibold']` โšก preload by subset or unicode range

@nuxt.comOct 11, 2026, 1:54 PM

๐Ÿ‘‰ it's built with three other libraries that also just reached v1 ๐ŸŽ‚ โšช `unifont` - to resolve metadata โšช `fontaine` - to cut layout shift โšช `fontless` - to apply it agnostically for all vite-based frameworks โšก

@nuxt.comOct 11, 2026, 1:54 PM

happy sunday! fonts.nuxt.com v1 is out ๐ŸŽ‰

if you haven't tried it, here's how:

1๏ธโƒฃ use `font-family` in css or tailwind
โœ… ... and you're done!

nuxt will detect the font, self-host it, and generate preloads + font metrics to cut layout shift + load time

no configuration required โœจ

this is our biggest one yet, I think. โ€ฆ and I can't wait to hear what you make of/with it ๐Ÿ˜Š

Excited to see `useFetch` addons land in Nuxt 4.6! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿงฉ You can now extend it with your own typed options, middleware and return values, all as reusable addons. This was the goal I had in mind when building `createUseFetch`. Nuxt's data fetching just got a lot more hackable! ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ

I would love to do a deep dive into what's in nuxt/cli v4, but sleep calls and for now I just want to leave this one here ๐Ÿ”ฅ

A screenshot of a banner on npmx.dev, with the content:

Package size and dependency count decreased since v3.37.0! ๐ŸŽ‰

Install size reduced by 72% (6.7 MB smaller) ยท 35 fewer dependencies

โฌ†๏ธ to upgrade: npx nuxt upgrade --dedupe ... and a huge thank you to everyone who contributed! ๐Ÿ’š

@nuxt.comOct 5, 2026, 10:47 PM

๐Ÿ”๏ธ and @hugorcd.com has redrawn the dev loading screen as a WebGL particle field!

๐Ÿ› dev errors now come with mapped stack traces and a code frame from your own source, in the browser and the terminal there's even a 'copy as agent prompt' button ๐Ÿ‘€

Nuxt development error page in the browser at localhost:3000/ssr-error. It reads "TypeError, HTTP 500: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'first')", with a code frame from app/pages/ssr-error.vue that highlights line 5, return u!.first.toUpperCase() + ' ' + u!.last, with a caret under "first". The Copy error menu is open with three options: Copy as Markdown, Copy prompt for an agent, and Copy structured JSON. Collapsed sections below: Call stack, Component trace, Request & environment, and Logs.

๐ŸŽฏ typed `$fetch` is rebuilt on `fetchdts` 3000 server routes used to take 53s to type-check - now it's just 0.2s! request bodies are checked against what each handler validates, too ๐Ÿ‘‰ you can opt in with `experimental.routeTypedFetch`

Bar chart of type instantiations and type-check time by route count, at 100 call sites, comparing Nuxt 4.5 with Nuxt 4.6 and routeTypedFetch.

100 routes: 1.4M instantiations and 0.77s before, 51.6k and 0.21s after.
300 routes: 5.8M and 3.49s before, hitting TS2589; 51.6k and 0.21s after.
1,000 routes: 12.8M and 7.44s before, hitting TS2589; 51.6k and 0.21s after.
3,000 routes: 35.9M and 26.82s before, hitting TS2589; 51.6k and 0.21s after.

The Nuxt 4.5 bars grow with every row; the Nuxt 4.6 bars stay a thin sliver.

this has been a long time coming, and it rests on years of work from @pi0.io on h3, Nitro and web-standard server primitives

thank you, Pooya โค๏ธ

๐Ÿ‘‰ Nitro is still the default, and still the right choice for almost everyone

@nuxt.comOct 5, 2026, 10:47 PM

๐Ÿงฉ `nuxt/server` is a new import source for server code, built on web standards meaning the same handler can run on Nitro v2, Nitro v3 or the new (very experimental) `@nuxt/vite-server` โšก ... so modules can support Nuxt 4 _and_ Nuxt 5 from one file

Code editor window titled server/api/users.post.ts:

import { defineEventHandler, readValidatedBody } from 'nuxt/server'
import { z } from 'zod'

export default defineEventHandler(async (event) => {
  const user = await readValidatedBody(event, z.object({ name: z.string() }))
  return { created: user.name }
})

Below the code: runs on Nitro v2, Nitro v3 and @nuxt/vite-server.

first, Nuxt CLI v4 gives `nuxt dev` an interactive panel: URLs, startup progress, request logs and single-key shortcuts

it's also 73% smaller and gets to first paint 6.6x faster โšก๏ธ
