If you're a healthcare worker reading this, please know that you are genuinely valued and needed - for your humanity as well as your skill.
With your input, your experiences and your voice, we will keep fighting for meaningful change.
We have active plans to lobby government and help kickstart tangible action. If you have experience or expertise to contribute to this conversation, please get in touch. We are working towards a world in which all healthcare staff are valued, thrive and can enjoy their jobs once more. 7/8
After the pandemic, COVID hubs were abolished amid cutbacks. Wellbeing provision across NHS Trusts remains patchy and sporadic. Some Trusts are doing brilliant, essential work. Others offer their hardworking staff almost nothing. This must change. 6/8
At Frontline19, we provide free counselling to healthcare workers, but we cannot be one of the only fall-backs. Early intervention and prevention are key. Supporting staff once they are struggling is essential, but preventing that suffering must be the priority. 5/8
Until the underlying issues are resolved, the cycle will merely repeat. So this year's theme of 'real change' needs to be more than words on a page. It needs to mean tangible action to protect healthcare workers from the pressures that damage their mental health. 4/8
In healthcare, workers who have experienced mental ill health are all too often expected to step straight back into the environment that caused the problems in the first place. We cannot expect people to heal in the same environment that made them sick. 3/8
World Mental Health Day is a great vehicle for starting conversations about mental health and reducing stigma - but we need to do far more than just talk. We need to address the conditions that contribute to poor mental health in the first place. 2/8
This #WorldMentalHealthDay the theme is 'Lived experiences heard: Real voices, real change'.
This is particularly pertinent to what we do at Frontline19, listening to the experiences of healthcare workers who come to us for counselling.

Trigger Warning: Domestic abuse
Healthcare workers experience domestic abuse too. It isn't always physical, and no one should face it alone.
Frontline19 offers free, confidential counselling to NHS and frontline staff affected by abuse.

Today we pause to remember those health and care workers we have lost to suicide, which happens alarmingly often. We must foster a culture where staff feel supported and cared for at their worst
If you are a frontline worker in need, you can confidentially self-refer for counselling frontline19.com
It's #WorldSuicidePreventionDay
We know how tragically common suicide is among NHS staff. But we also know that the right support at the right time can save a life - weโve seen it happen.
No frontline worker should suffer in silence. Reach out for free, confidential counselling: frontline19.com
