🧵 Attention, Fellow SFF Artists and Authors -- here is my response to Must Read Magazines, after they presented an Asimov's art contract expecting me to waive all Moral Rights and Copyright to my art. And, I would strongly advise the following to my fellow pros…. 1/

John Picacio’s response to Must Read Magazine’s request for his waiver of all Moral Rights and Copyright of his commissioned art for an ASIMOV’S assignment. Short version — Picacio says a resounding NOPE.

I can only sympathise when comics creators talk about how hard it is to create short stories. I’m sure that’s true. And it only makes Stan Sakai all the more impressive, because this 3 page Usagi Yojimbo story from 1999 - coloured by Tom Luth - is absolutely & utterly brilliant.

This has fucked me up more than once. If you have a coconut allergy, you NEED to be careful about anything with “activated charcoal” anywhere near the label.

Happy Birthday to Weezie! Louise Simonson has had a long and distinguished career as a comic editor/writer; from X-Men, Power Pack, Superman and more. Her first foray into mainstream comics was being the model for Linda Olsen in Bernie Wrightson's classic cover to House of Secrets #92 (1971)

New #WriterBeware blog post: If you're a writer, you've probably gotten one (or more) of those AI-generated scam marketing emails or book club invites that make it seem like the sender really read your book.

Here's a little peek at how it's done.

I'm a professional book reviewer who gets a ton of PR emails from publicists. Do you know where I first hear about 80% of the books I end up reviewing? From authors and readers on bsky.

I am not first and will be far from the last to say this: I have purchased so many books because I saw them recommended or publicized here on bsky. I cannot urge you all enough to KEEP TALKING ABOUT BOOKS. I know it's easier to talk up someone else's book, but this also means you, the shy author.

“Everything about Tundra was catastrophic. Including the ending where they said Kitchen Sink bought Kitchen Sink.” Groth’s interview with Kevin Eastman covered every catastrophic move with tundra - like buying a recording studio. See the Comics Will Kill you podcast for more on this history! #spx
