Paper now also available in English! 🎉🎉 #OSWA Feedback welcome!
🎉 Here it is: eu.boell.org/en/2026/10/0...
English version of our Open Social Web Alliance paper is finally out. As mentioned to many of #Disinfo2026 folks. Feedback very welcome! #oswa
I stand in solidarity with researchers at the #disinfo2026 conference. We need brave researchers and civil society in our fight against disinformation. EU institutions and governments should not cave under US pressure.
Credit to the US for making the point the conference was trying to make about US foreign interference in European democracies for them, and bringing more attention to the conference and its themes than they could have possibly hoped for. www.politico.com/news/2026/10...
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing!
great panel with @robin.berjon.com @scarnecchia.net and @cathleen.eurosky.social who reminds us that "if we want to have a chance to create an open social web, we need to think how regulations have consequences for that future, and not just how they're meant to be regulating Big Tech" #disinfo2026
No, the reporting points to the U.S.: www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...
Good points...
It’s shocking to hear that @eudiplomacy.bsky.social, the governments of Canada & Lithuania withdrew their #Disinfo2026 sponsorship on such short notice that the banners couldn’t be replaced.
And: I love how the organizers made sure everyone knew that intimidation was not going to go unnoticed. #FIMI
On #DSA enforcement: civil society is increasingly treated as a systemic solution to a systemic problem ( #disinformation) — without systemic/sustainable funding.
Yes. And so much to unpack here.
#disinfo2026
A running theme of #Disinfo2026h this year is about the US as FIMI actor.
In a completely unrelated turn of events, a few sponsors pulled out at the last moment, including the @eudiplomacy.bsky.social (yet another case of our institutions making me ashamed to be European).
“Social media companies actively financially incentivize this. Despite recurring policy violations, many of these accounts attain monetization status, while their obviously AI-generated content often remains unlabeled.” — new concerning analysis by reset.tech www.reset.tech/resources/mo...
On #slopaganda
“6,601 accounts amassed a combined following of 101.3 million, published 962,000 posts and videos, and generated over 4 billion views and 503.3 million engagements.” 1/ #disinfo2026
That was part of the speaker package. Will forward you the link. :)
Time flies! #disinfo2026 is already happening next week! If you’ll be in Vilnius too, ping me.
On Thursday, @robin.berjon.com @scarnecchia.net and I will dive into all things trust and safety on the #OpenSocialWeb — can’t wait!

Sommer 2026: 16.000 Hitzetote 🥵 alleine in 🇩🇪.
