October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month. ~1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss (~1 in 2 if you're in your 40s). US infant mortality is around ~5.3-5.6 per 1000 live births. Miss you forever Benji.

Born #OnThisDay in 1907 was geologist and palaeontologist Professor Dorothy Hill FRS. She was the first female professor at an Australian university, first female president of the Australian Academy of Science, and the first Australian woman to become Fellow of the Royal Society. #WomenInSTEM

If someone is seriously considering suicide, it is unlikely you will know. If anything, they might be a bit more upbeat than they have been because they feel the weight lifted off their shoulders by having a concrete plan. They won't come to you first. Be there for your friends and family.

I guess this is one place to build a nest. (Yes yes I know it was probably moved there, but that's less funny)

An empty bird's nest made of dried twigs rests on top of a white outdoor campus sign for the Ford Environmental Science and Technology building, with a paved walkway and trees in the background.

The Kurdish soul often understands love through absence rather than fulfillment — in this way, love becomes the attempt of a fragmented world to reassemble itself." - Bilal Sambur 3/

Love becomes an ontological rupture, a psychological opening, a historical wound, and a poetic form of resistance. 2/

"In the deep currents of Kurdish thought, love is the inner voice of existence, the first call the soul hears in darkness, and the search for meaning emerging from absence. 1/

#OnThisDay in 1977, NASA launched the Voyager 1 probe to study the outer solar system. It's still transmitting data, and at over 15.9 billion miles away is the most distant man-made object. In 1990, Voyager 1 took the famous 'Pale Blue Dot' image, showing Earth from over 6 billion kilometres away.
