🧠 #Civilian Protection includes mental health. In #Ukraine, NP is supporting initiatives focused on veteran reintegration. These are crucial to healing communities and reducing risks for violence.

❗️The killing and deprivation of civilians in #Gaza must not be normalised under the cover of a ceasefire agreement.

NP, along with 100+ #humanitarian, human rights, and other civil society organisations say the ceasefire exists in name only. Palestinians continue to be killed and injured daily, with restrictions placed on aid, equipment and rebuilding materials that prevent families from recovering.
✴️ It's been one year since the #ceasefire agreement, yet, more than 1,400 people have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza, nearly two million still need shelter, not a single hospital is fully functioning, and 1.4 million people face crisis-level hunger.
🇺🇦 NP condemns these attacks.
💬 "People on a bus, children in their schools, and families in their homes or on the run trying to reach safety are being killed in places that must be protected." -Joachim (Yomi) Kleinmann, NP’s Head of Programmes in Ukraine

NP is deeply alarmed by US plans to televise the execution by firing squad of Nidal Hasan, highlighting such a dehumanizing spectacle as part of a broader campaign to normalize state-sanctioned violence.
✅ Caring for those who protect others isn't an optional extra, it is a core obligation.
Saturday is #WorldMentalHealthDay, and psychosocial wellbeing sits at the heart of this guide.

⛑️ Too often, these responders go without the protective equipment, insurance, #psychosocial support, or evacuation options that international staff take for granted.
Today we're sharing our latest briefing — Protecting Those Who Stay: A Practical Guide to Holistic #DutyOfCare.
❗️383 aid workers were killed in 2024, making it the deadliest year on record. More than 90% were national & locally recruited staff. In 2025, that figure reached 97%. The people who carry the most risk in humanitarian response are those who stay: local responders, volunteers, and mutual aid groups.
In an #OpEd published in Envoy Magazine's latest issue, Yomi stresses that the #humanitarian sector must take more action to keep civilians safe from drones.
He also discusses how NP's use of drone detectors in #Ukraine is a first step towards mitigating these threats.

🗣️"We have the technology to keep people safe—we cannot let the technology of war keep outpacing the technology of protection." -Joachim (Yomi) Kleinmann, Head of Programs NP Ukraine
💬 "#Drones are changing warfare. That is the story everyone is writing. Here is the one they are not: civilians were already living in an era where the rules meant to protect them are routinely ignored... And the humanitarian response to that in most places is still far behind..."
🆕 The following brief argues that a narrow window remains for prevention-focused, civilian-led work, and sets out recommendations to protect civilians before violence escalates further.
