During my 8 week investigation on Elons performing arts department, I expected conversations about art and performances. Instead, many interviews focused on staffing, storage space, facilities and workload behind the scenes.

One thing that stood out in my reporting: faculty say parts of the Center for the Arts leak when it rains, even as the university promotes nationally recognized performing arts programs.
Awesome work Clara!!
This is big a deal, thanks for sharing. I wonder where it will go
Hey Keely! I can't wait to see what you come up with!
Yesterday, Oct 17th, the Tar Heels took the bell back from Duke to UNC since Nov. 11 2023. They won 24 to 20 in the last 4 minutes. Amazing game but Durham has my heart 💙
This is a big deal. ohiocapitaljournal.com/2026/10/15/o...
Happy Tuesday, reporters! I had two amazing interviews this past weekend with some awesome Elon students... we're on the home stretch! Shoutout @lrike27.bsky.social and @kat-macdonald.bsky.social for connecting mw with you're friends #JOU4970 🫶
This semester, I looked into the challenges facing Elon’s Performing Arts Department, from limited budgets to staffing and space. Talking with faculty and students showed me how much work goes into putting on a show and how they make it happen with the resources they have. #jou4970 #journalism
Keshia Gee’s We Are Here: Black Women at the Heart of Elon premiered during Elon's Homecoming, celebrating Black women’s stories and experiences. The event honored trailblazers Gail Fonville and Mary Carroll, Elon’s first Black female graduate and first Black Homecoming Queen. #BlackWomen
The National Association of Black Journalists has officially come to Elon University. The chapter has been approved at the national level and is now awaiting approval from Elon. This is exciting news for the Black communications community at Elon. #NABJ #BlackJournalist #Communications
The final showing of Elon’s Everybody was Tuesday. I’ve heard the production went over budget and used AI-generated images for the background. Disheartening to hear, but it was still a great show. The actors did a phenomenal job. #Collegetheater #Theater
The Elon University Archives have a lot of information students are looking for. I found historical documents from 1967 to 1985 that show the costs of theatre productions, including student workers, supplies, equipment, royalties and live musical performances. #Theatre #StudentJournalism
Hey everyone! I’m Liya, a senior journalism student, and for the next four months, I’ll be taking #JOU4970 and getting hands-on experience in investigative journalism.
I’m excited to be learning, asking questions, digging deeper, and hopefully uncovering some stories along the way.
