Note that this from a piece by Achim @zeileis.org who of course generally makes very sound technical choices. But it is not an official endorsement of one hosting platform over another. They are all equally welcome as long as the #Rstats code on them remains open source. 😉
All R-Forge users will be notified in the next days with more details. Everyone is encouraged to migrate to other services soon.
I migrated my projects to #Codeberg and wrote up a how-to in blog post - also useful for GitHub/GitLab/etc.
🚨 After 20 years of service, the R-Forge code-sharing platform will be retired. #rstats
Timeline:
- Until end of 2026: Normal operations.
- Jan 2027: Switch to read-only, but SVN continues to work.
- Jan 2028: SVN also read-only.
Reason: The underlying FusionForge software is no longer maintained.
New post by Šimon Urbánek and the late Tomáš Kalibera on new features for binary R packages
#rstats 📦️
#rstats 4.6.2 "Diversified Portfolio" scheduled for October 29. Full schedule on developer.r-project.org (or the svn if you're impatient.)
The Zulip is intended for chat amongst the community of people who want to actively engage in contributing to The R Project, rather than a forum for anonymous browsing. Separately, we plan (next year) to set up an R Project Discourse that would be an open system, more akin to the mailing lists.
New blog post by @ellakaye.co.uk and @heathrturnr.fosstodon.org.ap.brid.gy:
Zulip Chat for the R Project #RStats
New blog post by Vincent Goulet & Kurt Hornik:
Nifty new features for tangling and weaving Sweave documents in base #rstats
We invite #RStats users to contribute to a fund dedicated to helping the family of Tomáš Kalibera following his untimely death in April. Find out more and donate here: www.r-project.org/foundation/k...
The 2026 Rousseeuw Prize for Statistics has been awarded to the R Project. #RStats
