We must never forget the bravery of our first responders, the sacrifices of those who lost their lives, the pain of survivors, and the sacrifices of families who lost loved ones. We are eternally grateful for the bravery of ordinary Americans who downed flight 93 in Shanksville, PA.

On the 25th anniversary of 9/11, I was honored to be part of the remembrance ceremony at Arlington County Fire Station 5, which dispatched emergency personnel to the Pentagon.

The magnitude of H.R.1 cuts will be enormous, but I am confident the community-based projects we visited and ideas discussed will help provide easy and affordable access to primary care services for targeted rural Virginians.

Honored to co-chair the Joint House HHS and Senate Education & Health Committee Bootcamp this week with Augusta Health and JMU. Legislators heard directly from health care providers, visited programs, and discussed the impacts of H.R.1, 340B, and the challenges facing rural communities.

Setting a regulatory framework or provider licensure requirements may help. But, we need to be careful that the proposed redesign does not result in unintended consequences.

The Behavioral Health Commission (BHC) is looking at ways to make crisis intervention services more effective and cost efficient, while ensuring that folks who need these services still have easy access.

Let’s remember that the labor movement gave us the five-day work week, prohibitions on child labor, and critical workplace protections that have improved the lives of generations of workers. I will always fight to give workers a seat at the table.

This November, Virginians will have the opportunity to ensure that every individual has the right to make personal decisions about their reproductive health by voting YES on Question 1.

Today is World Sexual and Reproductive Health Day, a day to recognize that access to sexual and reproductive health care is fundamental to one’s health, dignity, and wellbeing.

We need more partnerships like this throughout the Commonwealth.
