I primarily buy paperbacks. I prefer the feeling of a physical book & paperbacks don’t give me nearly as much eye strain as digital copies do. I can play around w the display settings as much as I want to, but ebooks still tend to drain me faster. I‘ll read ebooks if that’s the only option tho

Pietri let his gaze sweep over and linger on Eloy—softer, almost what could only be described as fond, after having never seen such an expression on his face before. “Nice to see you again.” “You two. . . ?” Desi started. “Yes,” Pietri answered, and pulled his door closed behind him. He stepped up to Eloy and placed a hand on his shoulder. Desi frowned, but Pietri didn’t give that regal mind of his time enough to come up with a polite response. Leaning closer, Pietri whispered against the shell of Eloy’s ear, “Is he bothering you?” Eloy didn’t know why or how he got himself to nod (or quite honestly, even breathe), but he did. Pietri brushed his fingers down his arm and took his hand into his own, grinning again. “If you’ll excuse us. I was supposed to meet him outside in the garden, though, I certainly don’t mind a walk there together.” Pietri shifted his weight as if to turn and pull Eloy along with him, but paused, narrowing those ice-cold eyes. “Don’t you have a pretty little butterfly to catch?” Although warm, tucked into Pietri’s side, Eloy nearly shivered.

I def think we (at least the U.S.) are facing a literacy crisis, & that our digital age has done some serious harm to reading, comprehension/critical thinking, attention, & people’s willingness to sit w contradiction/discomfort, but I refuse to buy into the doomerism (1/2)
