Farm to School programs are instrumental in building new markets for local farmers and providing fresh, local food for kids. Explore our new Farm to Kids timeline, which documents Minnesota's progress in building Farm to Kids policy and program support across the state:
The New World Screwworm, a parasitic fly previously eradicated in the U.S. for decades, spread to the U.S. earlier this summer. The parasite thrives in hot, humid conditions — and USDA’s response to the outbreak fails to address the increasing risks of a warming climate. www.iatp.org/new-world-sc...
The ongoing loss of smaller farms in Minnesota has had negative impacts on rural communities and economies. In IATP’s recent comment to @mnagriculture.bsky.social, we recommended that state dairy programs prioritize access and equity for small & mid-sized dairy farms. www.iatp.org/minnesota-da...
Stevens County, MN recently approved permits for a massive expansion of the West River Dairy, from 7,855 cows to 18,855. If the project moves forward, it will continue the trend of fewer, larger dairies in the state. Factory farms are growing as small family operations are put out of business.
Our new dashboard brings together public data from 10 EU countries, available for the first time in a centralized information hub, to paint a clearer picture of the climate progress, challenges, and potential of the EU's agriculture sector. Explore the dashboard here! www.iatp.org/eu-agricultu...
NEW: Today we launched our new EU Agriculture and Climate Dashboard.
The dashboard explores the intersection of agriculture & climate change, using interactive graphics to show where EU countries are making progress — or falling short — on agriculture and climate goals. www.iatp.org/introducing-...
The food system we have isn’t the only option. And world hunger isn’t unsolvable. In fact – the resources and solutions already exist around the world. We just have to embrace them.

In 2025, IATP and the University of Minnesota conducted a statewide survey farmer survey. We heard from 462 Minnesota farmers who shared their experiences with climate resilient farming practices and accessing support for agroecology. Learn more here: www.iatp.org/minnesota-fa...
NEW: IATP’s Leila Yow recently traveled to Beijing to attend a workshop on competition law and policy. While there, she met small farmers and organizers who are building local alternatives to a corporate-controlled food system. www.iatp.org/beijing-trip...
Earlier this afternoon, the U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee passed its Farm Bill out of committee by a 12-11 party-line vote. The bill fails to extend essential SNAP funding, and does not do nearly enough to help farmers in need.

Join us this Wednesday for the first webinar in our fall Shaping the Future of Food series!
IATP's Ben Lilliston will discuss how agribusiness exerts its economic and political power during times of crisis, and how we can chart a more resilient path forward.
As part of the EU Food Policy Coalition, IATP Europe sent an open letter today to @ec.europa.eu recommending key policies to include in the updated EU Governance Regulation.
Effective action on climate & agriculture is long overdue.

NEW: With the European Commission setting their priorities for the upcoming year, an update of the EU Governance Regulation presents an opportunity to actually tackle agriculture climate emissions and build more resilient, agroecological food systems in Europe. www.iatp.org/agriculture-...
Our friends at @familyfarmco.bsky.social have put together an action alert to drive congressional support for the resolution, which charts a path forward for trade policy that supports workers, families, small-scale farmers, and others — not giant corporations. ujoin.co/campaigns/45...
NEW: Fixing the harmful trade chaos caused by the Trump administration doesn’t mean returning to a broken “free trade” status quo. Instead, we need new trade rules, like the recently-introduced Fair Trade for Working Families Resolution. www.iatp.org/us-trade-pol...
A new @unep.org report warns of massive risk from exceeding 1.5°C global warming. Yet it fails to put a fast, fair, funded fossil fuel phase-out at the center of how governments fulfill their legal obligations. Here’s why that’s a problem. 🧵
📮🥕USDA’s new “Harvest to Hallways” initiative recognizes the importance of getting fresh, local food to schools but falls short w/ out sustained investment schools, farmers & food-system partners need.🔗See this guest post from @iatp.bsky.social for details: sustainableagriculture.net/blog/guest-p...
USDA announced its "Harvest to Hallways" initiative this week in support of school nutrition. While there are some positive components, the total investment of $125 million doesn't come close to the $1 billion of local school food funding that was canceled in 2025.

NEW: The Trump administration has approached trade through negotiated bilateral Agreements on Reciprocal Trade (ART) in exchange for easing tariff rates.
These agreements lock in corporate power and undermine countries' abilities to control their own food systems:
