Regulation that protects big businesses from annoying competitors is...a sensible precaution. Regulation that enforces market competition, breaks up monopolies and stops extraction and price gouging is...mad socialist red tape, if not actual Stalinism. Am I doing this right?

Fewer non-competes will damage (check notes) competitiveness, according to City banks.

This seems a classic example of how 'competitiveness' (UK v world) is set up as a reason not to promote competition (within the UK).

Do these guys believe in the free market or not?

Nope they don’t believe in the free market. That was just a ruse to create monopolies.

Here's something the media is hardly talking about. This Government is set to oversee the steepest fall in living standards in modern times - unless they change course fast. In less than two weeks Labour faces a stark choice - will they tax wealth and back the majority?

Under current projections this is set to be the worst parliament on record for living standards growth - and a bar chart demonstrating it

Former Labour Deputy Leader Lord Thomas Watson, now Senior VP at Palantir UK, wrote to me defending their public contracts. Instead of trading letters, I’ve challenged him to an open, public debate. He can defend Palantir’s ethos; I’ll argue for public accountability. Will you accept, Tom?

Formal letter from Clive Lewis MP, Member of Parliament for Norwich South, to Lord Thomas Watson of Wyre Forest, Senior Vice President of Palantir Technologies UK Limited, dated 7 October 2026. In the letter, Lewis challenges Watson to a public debate regarding Palantir's role in government contracts and public institutions. Lewis rejects Watson's claim that criticisms malign software engineers, stressing that elected officials must scrutinize corporate power, democratic control, and public accountability. He proposes a debate with an impartial chair, equal time, and audience questions.

The Government must honour its manifesto commitment to hold a public consultation on the future of the House of Lords. We're asking peers to support a Bill that would kickstart that process. Please sign the letter.

As former Labour minister Tom Watson joins Palantir, please read this devastating exposé by @petergeoghegan.bsky.social & @lucasamin.bsky.social of how the company, with Peter Mandelson's help, wormed its way into the UK government to sell its dire & dangerous products.

#PalantirOut - and let's close the revolving door between politics and industry while we are at it.

"Watson, who was a key political ally and fixer for Gordon Brown, remains close to many senior Labour figures."

Labour would lose 160 seats if there was a general election now, according to the Election Maps UK site that you’ve just reposted.

This is based on the assumption (and the document says quite clearly that this is an assumption): That the government would have to buy the water companies existing debt. The alternate view is that the companies would cost nothing to buy as they are essentially bankrupt.
