I talk about this with people all the time. The harder someone recommends something the less likely I am to consume it, often out of an inate fear of my reaction to it disappointing/upsetting them. 🤣 I tend to enjoy the things I truely love in private as well.

Not necessarily trying to defend it, but it feels like how I’ve heard some folks justify saying the the F slur, which I have a similar reactions to, because it’s just a cigarette in the UK. Not a 1to1 comparison but at least to me I have fond memories of family/friends telling me I’m “such a s____”

Honestly I didn’t even know the S one was a slur. Im from the NW USA and I’ve only ever heard it in a loving/endearing way (mostly folks calling kid me that) so I never suspected bad connotations. Felt like being called a lovable scamp. Good to know thats something not to be used and is harmful tho
