New Frozen Crown seems pretty good on first listen. Never really got into this band but I like this album
I’m seeing Greywind in Chicago this Thursday. It’s hard to even describe how good this band is. It’s like if Paramore was super depressed and way better (no shade to Paramore I’m a Paramore fan)! This is going to be cathartic as hell. I fuckin love this band.
Launching a career in porn solely so I can name myself “cyberfuck.”
I’m reading a lot of need for external validation. Fulfillment can only come from within. If you do things that you feel make you a good person and make you feel good then you don’t need others to give you attention or approval. Believe that you are enough without other people telling you
With the Limp Bizkit revisionism I decided to listen to Chocolate Starfish because I’d never given it an honest try and… Wow everyone was right at the time to say this band absolutely sucks! Break stuff and rollin are awesomely bad but they are the exception. Hot Dog is among the worst songs ever
I think it’s kind of a throwback. It’s a bit old school country touched up with modern sound. But it’s delivered in a way that doesn’t sound kitschy and it’s a catchy song. There’s definitely something compelling about it and I think it’s found in its simplicity.
It’s a very good song imo
Part of what I appreciate about this band in general is how unapologetically ambitious they are and how equally capable they are of making something incredible that pays off that ambition. It’s incredibly rare to have such vision and also be able to pull it off so often.
Listening to The Great Misdirect by Between the Buried and Me for the hundredth time. So underrated. My intro to the album was it was the newest BTBAM album and my intro to the band was Colors. I fell in love with it because of just how insane it was that they matched Colors just an album later.
Imo the very best responses to a child’s question about anything but especially about questions that don’t have a known answer or are opinion based is “well, what do you think”? There’s too much shoving of opinions onto kids. Talk to them rationally and let them think for themselves.
The George RR Martin universe would be better off without the dragons. Given the human drama as the main source of intrigue every time they show up it just seems brutish and silly and a distraction from the main plot. Not to mention an all too convenient and lazy deus ex machina.
They sounded incredible even though there was a pitifully small crowd for them on a Monday night.
I’m seeing Scardust tonight! One of my all time favorite symphonic metal bands that has never played the US before.
The Rings of Power just wasn’t a good show. The plot wasn’t right for a Silmarillion take and it also wasn’t good on its own. It was trying to do way too much. Characters weren’t true to the books nor good in their own right. Writing and pacing bad. Just a fail all around.
Erra is one of the most consistently great melodic metalcore bands. Really isn’t an album of theirs I haven’t enjoyed.
At its peak moments there’s legitimately nothing that can go in your ears that’s more immensely gratifying and awe inspiring as heavy metal. It’s hard to even describe to people who don’t like heavy music what it feels like but it’s spiritual. It’s everything.
New Green Carnation album is really really good. Never heard of this band before. This last Friday may have been the GOAT release day. So much good stuff
The new Castle album fucks
Incredible Friday for releases we just had. Still absorbing them but big discovery is the band Bear Ghost. For fans of - Others by No One, Parius, Native Construct, The Dear Hunter, Coheed, the goofier parts of BTBAM.
RIP Andy Williams. Had the pleasure of seeing Every Time I die multiple times and drinking a round of beers with the band at a bar in Iowa city several years ago. Super real group of guys.
