Approach from Holbrook village by leaving Ipswich at the Wherstead Road roundabout, following the B1456 under the Orwell bridge. At the water tower turn right onto the B1080 (immediately after the turning to Freston).

Dexter has won prizes at the Athens, Ionel Perlea, and Bucharest International Conducting Competitions; and the Abingdon Music Festival Competition. He gained a Master’s in Orchestral Conducting with Distinction, and the Michael Beech Conducting Award at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

Dynamic Dexter Drown is conducting our concert tomorrow. Just #OneDayToGo before we perform in Greenwich Hall at RHS Holbrook. By popular request, Dexter returns to direct us through a fabulous programme of popular music. We're delighted he is as enthusiastic about working with us again as we are.

Our percussionists also feature in Márquez's Danzón No 2, one of the most frequently performed Mexican contemporary classical orchestra pieces. Be ready for the rhythmic accompaniment by the claves; handheld hardwood cylinders struck together to produce a bright and penetrating clicking noise.

Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra was commissioned for an educational documentary. Brilliantly crafted and with a spectacular fugue, it was quickly appropriated by symphony orchestras for the concert hall. Not just for children! Prepare to be amazed by the stunning percussion cadenza.

Concert is #twodaysaway. Our thoughts are with our superb percussionists who have the immense task of checking packing lists; organising transport; loading; and arranging their layout in an unfamiliar venue to ensure the smoothest management of 15 instruments between 6 players - a skill in itself!

The music of Jean Sibelius is truly extraordinary, bringing to life the breathtaking landscapes of the composer's homeland. Our concert THIS SATURDAY begins with the best-known of his works - Finlandia - which has become a symbol of Finnish nationalism, and ends with his dramatic first symphony.
