PSA We can have fast(er) #Rstats continuous integration via #r2u at #codeberg. Thanks to @zeileis.org for the recent question, Doug Kelkhoff for the initial nudge, and @coatless.bsky.social for sorting details out. You can use both forgejo actions and woodpecker. See

One heads-up: R 4.6 means your packages need reinstalling once. The app offers to do it in one tap. Your devices must be on iOS/iPadOS 26 or later.

On iPad: File, Code, Run and View menus (hold Command to see them), plus Projects and History in the four-pane view. Everywhere: VoiceOver reads results and errors aloud, and the app respects larger text, reduced motion and higher contrast.
R can reach the web now. Fetch live data with httr2 and chart it with ggplot2, right on your phone. By default that traffic goes through a small helper running on your own device, not through anyone else's server.
Big tables open quickly and you can filter, sort and search them. The package list tells you what each package does, and your saved packages load several times faster.
Got an R script in your email? It opens straight into webRios now, from Mail, Files and other apps. CSV files too. The editor also stays quick on long scripts, with text sizes up to 30 pt.
Charts you can touch. Interactive plots now open in the app, so you can tap, zoom and pan. Plots you pin stay pinned, even after you close the app.
Plots can show up right in the Console now, under the code that drew them. Fit a model, plot it, and the chart sits beside the numbers.
The big one: a Stop button. Started a loop that never ends? Tap Stop, or press Command-period on a keyboard, and R stops right where it is. Your variables stay put. The old advice, "restart the app", is officially retired.
What's new in webRios 1.2.0, the app that puts R on your iPhone and iPad (and works offline)? A quick tour. #rstats

Let me know if you need help! It was a fun way to talk about ordinal variables back in the day 😉
Since you're on a mac, maybe try out an mlx (apple specific ml framework) clone-voice builds locally? github.com/Blaizzy/mlx-...
Heavily dependent on the TTS. Though, I'd error more on the side of better audio and worse visuals as bad audio has more of a departure universally across smartphone/tablet/desktop. I'd probably encourage Elevenlabs over Gemini if you have credits. Decent local models exist too (w/ watermarking).
I experimented with that a lot and the conclusion I came to was it's better to do a voice clone (problematic if you aren't a fan of hearing yourself talk) or use one of the pre-built TTS voices. That allows for better voice ducking with a background. Still need tweaks in editor & premade assets 😔
{surreal} 0.0.3 is on CRAN, just in time for jack-o'-lantern season, my favorite time to use this trick back when I was teaching. It hides a picture in a dataset, and the residual plot of a linear model brings it back.
No worries. Helpful to know it's there 🙂 I'll take a closer look this weekend.
First, bees knees on the underlying metadata structuring. Second, q2 under wasm hasn't yet bridged the code execution to results gap yet?
Old iOS versions don't handle webR's memory pressure well in app form. So, iOS 26+ is required (iPhone 11 and above).
webRios 1.2.0 is off to the App Store for review!
It's an R editor for iPhone and iPad, built on webR.
Now with: R 4.6, a Stop button for runaway loops, plotly and leaflet widgets, and httr2 on the device.
Fashionably late to the party, but on its way.
Too many for a single skeet. (Though, "make no mistakes" goes far nowadays.) Maybe a later blog post or video overview? Still sorta trying to perfect everything.
