Esthetic->Necessity. Your bib started as an esthetic, now you need it when you eat. Your binki was an esthetic until you can't sleep without it. The clothes with snaps in the crotch were esthetic, until daddy needed them to change you fast. Diapers were esthetic until *plop*... well. You know.
