Thankful for the chance to hear @bradleyonishi.bsky.social speak this afternoon and score a copy his new book, American Caesar. It's important work, tracing out forces of religion and tech behind a dark political agenda. It would be a great dystopian novel, but sadly it's reality.
It's World Homeless Day, and I'll just say: Homelessness isn't some great unsolvable mystery. People are homeless because they don't have homes. This suffering persists not for lack of solutions, but because enormous wealth and power are invested in maintaining the very structures that produce it.
Just when we think it canāt get worse ⦠it does.
The death penalty is a moral abomination. State-sanctioned barbarism pushed by incompetent morons and sanctioned by the Supreme Court. Absolute ghoul shit. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...
I hate hearing someone I admired spouting such absolute misogynistic BS. Women musicians spent decades bashing their heads against the brick wall of an industry that begrudged them contracts, air time and concert bookings, and this snide dismissal of that hard-earned progress is beyond infuriating.
How do you commit fraud by buying something and not using it?
If anybody sees my old Snoopy bong in there, please let me know.
Good pointāI should have specified other staples. And Iām an editor so I presumably know better.
I donāt get groceries there but buy a ton of stuff from them online, especially staples like vitamins & OTC medication. You can buy most things without even being a member.
Good luck finding a recipe!
Maria Muldaur
My auntās potato salad recipe requires candied dill pickles, which have all but vanished. Sweet gherkins are a pale sub but the closest thing Iāve found.
Spectacular work!
The amount of Amazon workers relying on SNAP and Medicaid has nearly tripled since 2020. ā while Amazonās annual profits soared by over 550%. Itās the same story everywhere: corporate profits are at record highs, while workersā share of the economy is at a record low. We must unrig the system.
I'm old enough to remember that time a Democratic senate, in the middle of a Democratic president's reelection campaign, ordered a bipartisan investigation of the president's brother's receipt of $200,000 from the Libyan government.

Glad folks are appalled by photos of the "phone booth" cage under an awning, but pls understand: This IG report is likely part of a cover-up. Amnesty Int'l interviewed detainees EIGHT MONTHS AGO who said the cage was half this size (couldn't stand up), had no awning, w feet chained to the bottom.
If you're trying to propose to people with trans children in their lives that their lives are a worthwhile sacrifice for other Democratic priorities, consider whether you'd be convinced that your children should be sacrificed for the greater good of someone else's family.
RT if you've never had a tab of ChatGPT open, period.
Getting a bit tired of very rich actors and directors saying āAI is here we have to learn how to use itā instead of āI am wealthy enough to dedicate myself only to projects which employ talented human beings because anything else is an existential threat to human storytellingā
