What an enormous loss.
Heartbreaking story. And personal, since we recently lost my mother-in-law to stage 4 lung cancer.
What's missing from the story: excellent, compassionate, honest palliative care.

Congratulations to @leahpierson.bsky.social on being named a @statnews.com Wunderkind.
And great to see a bioethicist recognized for her leadership & impact.
One of the best – both clearest and most engaging – science books I have ever read.
If you find this interesting, join us tomorrow 10/6 at noon Eastern time for @ent3c.bsky.social's Bronstein Lecture about this topic. Registration (including for virtual participation) here: medicalethicshealthpolicy.med.upenn.edu/events/brons...
Alas but not surprising.
You can still find all of our (archived) materials here: library.georgetown.edu/collection/d...
thanks @georgetownuni.bsky.social!
Fascinating paper @hthirumurthy.bsky.social and team!!! The possibility of a bright future motivates. The possibility of a dim one does the opposite. Something I see all the time in the clinic and hospital.
Please join us Tuesday Oct 6, 12pm ET, in person or online, for our annual Bronstein Lecture @pennmehp.bsky.social. We will welcome Dr. Eric Turkheimer (@ent3c.bsky.social) as he speaks about "Open Science and Race Science."

An important update now treats transfusion of fractions as a matter of individual conscience rather than doctrine. www.jw.org/en/library/s...
I’ve been reporting on the CDC for years, and have written about many of its troubles over the past year. I was still shocked by the extent of the staff losses and political interference I found when reporting this one.

Confirming the White House’s planned EO to exert more political control on NIH seems to be “dead”
Horrible stuff here. Really important.
