Nice to find the site's first #GreatNorthernDiver of the autumn 🍁 distantly off the Point at S Devon's #HopesNose this morning. A true harbinger of the advancing season. Yesterday's Cetti's Warbler still present but elusively calling from deep scrub. #UKBirding #DevonBirds @birdtrack.bsky.social

Hope's Nose, S Devon this AM. I did not expect to find my first site Cetti's Warbler at the bottom of the first slope! Perhaps the first record here for several decades? 🤔 Mobile and vocal - it showed briefly on half a dozen occasions. #UKBirding #DevonBirds @backwardbirder.bsky.social #birds

Today's migrant #SpottedFlycatcher in the 🌞 at S Devon's, #HopesNose. It was mobile and elusive early on, before giving itself up late morning. A surprisingly scarce species for the site, with just a handful of records in recent years. #UKBirding #DevonBirds

Shiphay, Torquay, S Devon. 11.40. Sun comes out and the expected Hummingbird hawk-moth drops in to feed on the buddleia in the back garden. Even better were our first 2 Clouded Yellows floating through! What a year for them locally and beyond.

I was packing up to leave 😂, but then very brief views at 18.00 before pretty good ones fifteen minutes later. It was in clear view for over 8 minutes - some calling too. Really pleased to see this scarce species in our local area - thanks for the find! A lovely part of the coastline too 👍.

Hope's Nose, S Devon. 08.30. Stunned to find a Greenish Warbler in an ash tree on the northern side of the first slope, below the entrance. The bird showed briefly but incredibly well at close range, before moving off. #DevonBirds #UKBirding #birds @rarebirder.bsky.social @birdguides.bsky.social
