You probably were! I was thinking we hadn’t scored twice since August and didn’t get the impression that was about to change. Thankfully Price and Heggebø were clinical when it mattered. For all the possession Albion have, they create very few genuine opportunities to score.

Brilliant win. So unexpected once we fell behind. Delighted for the Heg. He’s going to frustrate all season, but score double figures thanks to his poachers instinct. While we remain in the playoffs, Mozza’s overachieving. Lolz at the Dingz.

I’m not so sure. I don’t think the majority of the nation is all that bothered either way. Then there are some on both sides of the debate who are firmly committed to rejoin/stay out. Overall it would be highly divisive to put this to the public again, for now at least.

I think the UK can right its economic issues if it just takes the necessary steps - ones the current government won’t make. Brexit was a divisive issue but it’s done now, bringing back all that noise would be very painful and time consuming in ways many underestimate IMO.

This fantasy about rejoining the EU seems strange to me. The UK would not be allowed to rejoin with the same advantages it previously had as a member, and rejoining would antagonise a large portion of the nation. It was also not part of Labour’s manifesto.

I think we’ll lose the game, but if the performance is improved then I’m okay with that and hope to get back to winning ways against Blackburn on Saturday.

I’d bring GC back in for Phillips, Price in for Nzingoula (switching FHM to the right side) and either Whitwell or Stewart in for Heggebø. There’s more onus on the midfield to supply for the forwards and score goals themselves than blame recent losses on our strikers.

@dannash86.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 3:04 PM

I wondered if that was related to fitness levels of players who’d been in action on international duty. Price and Stewart played a fair bit for their national sides.

@dannash86.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 2:10 PM

He looks completely shorn of belief, confidence, heart and fitness. It’s sad to see as he’s an honest player but he’s nowhere near good enough right now.

The Championship season enters its autumnal phase as of this weekend.

My latest piece is an appraisal of how Albion have started the season, as well as initial thoughts on the summers new arrivals.

Check it out on Substack in The Throstles Nest.

Brilliant race. Well done McNulty, perfectly timed attack.

BAGGIES

Myhre is even worse than Price in that second striker role. Heggebø has to come back in to be the focal point while JJM buzzes around him. I’m sure FHM has qualities but he needs dropping and to be made to fight for a place in midfield. 2 points dropped tonight. Charlton annoyingly plucky.

Fantastic win from Mas in the Vuelta, love it when the leaders jersey gives a rider extra belief to win a stage like that. Spain will be loving that stage win

@dannash86.bsky.socialAug 30, 2026, 3:43 PM

Nope. Needs time to develop and get used to a higher level than he’s played at before. Definite player there, I like that he gets forward a lot and isn’t just some boring defensive type like Furlong was.

@dannash86.bsky.socialAug 29, 2026, 3:48 PM

Totally with you on this, but Albion’s bit of luck this season was ruthlessly punished by an FA that hadn’t punished comparable incidents previously. It’s got everyone’s backs up, a sense of injustice has lingered.

@dannash86.bsky.socialAug 29, 2026, 3:45 PM

The officials incompetence didn’t help Albion today, but overall the better team won. Second half wasn’t good enough on or off the ball and Boro’s £20m striker took advantage. First half encouraging but you need to score when on top. On to the next one.

@dannash86.bsky.socialAug 29, 2026, 3:40 PM

Gutted for Pogacar, nasty crash. Doesn’t half open up the Vuelta as an actual race though.
