@josh.black
Building a design system at GitHub. Previously worked on the Carbon Design System.
Also ๐คฆโโ๏ธ obviously GitHub and not GitHuh lol
Things like container queries, anchor positioning, layers alongside great additions like popover, dialog, and invoke commands has been so much fun ๐ฅณ
Using more and more CSS features has also been such a fun knock on effect of this transition, it really showed how willing we are to adopt new things and use them when they allow us to improve the overwll experience and ship less JS
It was a lot of fun going through this experience. Definitely a big difference between Carbon and Primer has been how much closer I am to production when it comes to the design system and shipping changes

It was a lot of fun doing this, I think a lot of us on Primer (especially @katielangerman.com) were so excited to lean into this direction. It also meant starting to use all the great new CSS features available these past few years ๐
Makes a lot of sense! Thanks for explaining. What kind of rules/relationships/models are you finding are the most helpful to capture? ๐
Would love to hear more about this if you ever write about it ๐ Is the idea that there is was always a structure in how the pieces are assembled and this is how that gets delivered/codified?
Havenโt gone down the graph db route on our end, so far weโve just been doing routing rules in skills to see how far that can go. Curious to see what you find out ๐
