Oh gosh, I'll have to try to remember what my thinking was at the time. Because they didn't fit with the core gameplay, I really disliked the weird power-ups (which I thought fit Super Pac-Man better, hence adapting some of them for that game's enhanced mode). I know I wanted to make more of Miru.

Hey thanks! I will share this with Jason Ford, formerly of Sprint.

Thanks. He was the guy who produced Pac-Man's Arcade Corner for me.

Damn, I'm angry. Just found out we lost one of "my guys" from my Namco days. He was the first producer I hired, and he gave me the best compliment of my career. Alas, B00tch, we hardly knew ye. 😡😢 @bootch.bsky.social

Ran across this frame-grab from a video I shot in Auckland 24 years ago this month. The image on the right is how the Moon looked just above the horizon there, and the left image is rotated to how it appeared back home in California. It was something I hadn't even considered before going there.

Mine was an Atari 800XL.

Two changes made to the code when we started doing our own mazes for Pac-Man + Tournaments were: 1. add behavior for the ghosts to reverse direction if they hit a dead-end, and 2. add "one-way" tiles that prevented the ghosts from going into passages so we could build "safe spots" like in the OG.

Ship it!

The lower center of the brighter one has the same issue. There are vertical paths that are offset by one grid tile. I marked the problem on the left. I'd have had my guys fix the path as on the right.

@mauricemolyneaux.comSep 22, 2026, 5:07 AM

Ahh, because that maze I screenshotted goes against the maze design rules I enforced at Namco in that it has turns that are one grid square apart, which are really difficult to navigate, even with a joystick.

Nope. No Beryllium Spheres to be found. And still nothing with which to fashion a rudimentary lathe…

Pretty nice. A blast from the past to be sure. I assume you created those new mazes? Because they do not look familiar.

JASON NESMITH: It's a rock! It doesn't have any vulnerable spots! GUY FLEEGMAN: I know! You construct a weapon. Look around you. Can you form some sort of rudimentary lathe? Yes, we were there.
