I write about music for the almighty Albumism.com massive. I do a hip hop podcast called Return To Zero. I occasionally have thoughts and sometimes I share them.

Had a lot of fun bumping this in high school. Probably my favorite collection of Quik’s beats on an album, as he worked well combining sampling with live instrumentation.

Nothing but respect for MY Digger

Meant to put a comma between ever and where.

I mean, I’ve been to Venice, and there is a neighborhood/monument called the historical “Jewish Ghetto.” It’s technically the first “ghetto” ever where Jews were restricted to live starting in the 1500s.

Probably need to make a few of these.

I find the lack of a Bay Area show… upsetting.

This album has a lot of sentimental value to me. It’s also really good, as one my favorite groups slightly recalibrated their approach musically to make a highly entertaining project.

When Phonte put out his long awaited solo album, it certainly sounded like he was going through some s**t. Regardless, he gives a masterful lyrical performance and has great chemistry with all of the album’s producers.

If you’re expecting a lot of Rakim rapping, you should probably temper your expectations. Regardless, the album works pretty well, especially as a meeting of DPG/Wu Tang and West Coast/East Coast sounds.

Top 3 album of all time.

Favorite place to eat in the Bay Area.

I’m enjoying this first episode of the Jay/Rick Rubin series. Jay is really good at breaking down his technique, content, and inspirations. That said, it’s bugging the rap nerd in me that he keeps referring to Fatback Band’s “King Tim III” as “King Tut.”

@jesseducker.bsky.socialSep 18, 2026, 4:31 AM

See, one of them had “Thang” instead of “Thing.” Major distinction.

Brody King vs a local at the Dynamite before Revolution was pretty dang fast. M

I am of the opinion that PAC’s first two albums are his best. Still can’t decide on the order. Prefer the messy early 1990s production and the righteous anger.

@jesseducker.bsky.socialSep 12, 2026, 4:30 AM

This Casual album showcased his lyricism and ability to make Bay Area slap.

@jesseducker.bsky.socialSep 11, 2026, 4:29 PM

Yes, he’s become a corpoprate shill and douche.

@jesseducker.bsky.socialSep 11, 2026, 2:42 PM

Holds up as as great as everyone said it was a quarter of a century ago. And really among the best albums ever.

An excellent piece on one of my favorite albums. The Unspoken Heard forever. (My first job was barista-ing alongside Blue Black/Rob at Higher Grounds in Charlottesville VA, and I learned so much about music, life, friendship... It, in no small way, set the path that led me where I am today.)

Really is one of my favorite albums, and certainly one of the best of the 21st century thia far. Perfect marriage of the beats and rhymes.
