@canekforcouncil.bsky.socialIt was a beautiful evening to raise a glass to the Alexandria Seaport Foundation at their annual Wine on the Water. We are lucky to have so many amazing nonprofits in our community!

@canekforcouncil.bsky.socialVery few communities can boast to being the birthplace of so many lasting and impactful nonprofits like we can in Alexandria. I was honored to speak at Tenants & Workers United's 40th Anniversary Gala. TWU's impact in the region and across VA has been felt for generations.

@canekforcouncil.bsky.socialData centers should not be by-right development. They should not be near people, they should not be taking our precious natural resources, they should not be raising our utility rates and they have no place being near one of the most densely populated sections of our community. #AlexandriaVA
@canekforcouncil.bsky.socialHad a great time at Patrick Henry Rec Center's Hispanic Heritage Celebration. I was bummed I couldn’t compete in the pupusa eating contest but then again two food challenges in one day might have been a bit much for me 😅
@canekforcouncil.bsky.socialHappy to read the proclamation & celebrate the 10th Annual @alexlibraryva.bsky.social Hispanic Heritage Fiesta. Music by The Mystic Warriors & delicious food from LaPluma and Inca Chicken. Thanks to the staff & partners for helping to make this such a wonderful celebration.

@canekforcouncil.bsky.socialOn Indigenous Peoples' Day, we celebrate and recognize the cultures, resilience, and contributions of Indigenous communities.
@canekforcouncil.bsky.socialStarted the day at Kiwi Kuisine's grand re-opening celebrating 25 years in Alexandria! I couldn't finish my pie fast enough but I still put in work!

@canekforcouncil.bsky.socialThis morning I stopped by APD's inaugural Faith & Blue Prayer Breakfast which brought together faith leaders, law enforcement, and community members to further build bridges and strengthen community trust.

@canekforcouncil.bsky.socialIt was great to be back at the Northern Virginia Aging Network's annual legislative breakfast which celebrated 50 years of NVAN's work advocating for our seniors.

@canekforcouncil.bsky.socialGrowing up in LA I think I took for granted how often international games were hosted in the city so getting to watch the Mexican National Team last night was really special. Hopefully with the new RFK stadium being built we won't have to travel as far next time 😉
@canekforcouncil.bsky.socialIncredible selection of artwork from local and national artists at the annual Alexandria Art Fesitval. I stopped by @theartleague.bsky.social booth yesterday to support their fundraiser and get a cool treat 🎨🍦

@canekforcouncil.bsky.socialThis week we celebrated the ribbon cutting for Witter Place, our newest affordable housing community that 94 Alexandria families will call home. The beautiful artwork will help inspire and uplift not only the residents but also everyone who passes by on Duke Street.
