We often get asked what biocurators do so we quizzed our colleague Emily Bowler-Barnett about her role in the UniProt team. We also explored why biocuration is critical to open science, how AI is changing the field & how Emily's dog got her name ๐Ÿ•

Human-made chemicals are all around us.๐ŸŒŽ Most are likely harmless, while others can seriously harm our health.

EMBL-EBI Research Group Leader Jess Ewald @ewaldlab.org shares how her team uses AI to find out how chemicals in the environment could lead to human diseases.

Is there a โ€˜rightโ€™ age to start a PhD? Our PhD fellow Anna Foix doesn't think so. Anna pivoted from software to academia. Once worried that her computer science background wouldnโ€™t fit a life in research, she has since realised itโ€™s a huge asset, as AI becomes more central to biology.
