Late evening in Kyiv. Darkness is dotted with pale light from windows. Power outage. A familiar voice outside assured everyone that the air raid alert was over. When did it begin? These days, the attacks seem continuous. I see no need to complain or grumble. I write. You read. I write.
Whoever is ultimately behind the Starlink speed limits in Ukraine, this entire situation shows once again: communication infrastructure is a key part of sovereignty, resilience and defense.

Sunday morning in Kyiv. Emergency power outages again after russian strikes. The window is open, bringing in the sound of generators. Covering myself in a blanket of autumn sun and sipping a warcoffee, I’m going to write a letter about what it was like to live in Kyiv this week.
Cherkasy, Ukraine. A girl is standing in front of her home destroyed by a russian missile. Next time you put fuel in your car, remember we did this.
Yes, of course I care about that.
I’ve never seen anything like that. A chestnut tree is blooming in Kyiv. In October. No, it’s not a massive ‘trend’. Other trees are just like trees in autumn. Yellow, red, bald, tiredly green.
After reading the news about today’s call between trump and putin, I want to show you this sculpture INDIFFERENCE THAT KILLS Yurii Myrko Ceramics, artist’s own technique
Kyiv. Saturday. Emergency power outages after russian attacks. Such a sunny day. The metro stopped running for a short time. I want to visit KYIV ART FAIR. Missile attack. Explosions. Still want to go.
russians kill children, women and men, the young and those whose hair has turned silver. russians destroy homes where someone had breakfast yesterday. They burn warehouses full of books. putin is evil. But this evil has hands that kill, destroy and burn.
Again and again russia destroys Ukrainian books. After each strike on a book warehouse, I film how Kyiv bookstores react. Today, my favourite one. In the video: some books by Knygolove, whose warehouse was hit yesterday. The bookstore asks people to support affected publishers by buying a book.
The sculpture I saw today evoked so many emotions. It’s the strongest image of Ukrainians I’ve ever seen. TIRED, BUT NOT BROKEN 🇺🇦 Yurii Myrko Ceramics, artist’s own technique
Kyiv. Early Sunday evening. I went to have warcoffee at my favourite place. Drones? Frequent uninvited ‘guests’ during the day. One of the bridges was hit earlier. People are out, doing the same as I do: living their lives.
Kyiv. A building of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine hit by a russian drone on Monday. You see what I saw a few hours ago.
You are never alone. And you are always in our thoughts.
Kyiv. Air defence is shooting down drones. I finished writing today’s letter. russian drones found a new target - data centres and internet providers. Perhaps I’ll go out for a while. Yes, it’s not safe to wander now. But we have to live somehow.
Strong words against Russia from Poland‘s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sikorski! 💪🏻
May it be a good warcoffee! So many drones, attacks, casualties 😔 we worry a lot. We hope you are safe. And may all this be over very soon! 🫂
I read the news, terrible 😔 Hopefully you can still enjoy the exhibition! There was actually a book fair in Barcelona these days, all outdoor. I think you would have liked it! (Ok, all books in Spanish or Catalan 😅)
