Interviewer: can you explain this gap in your résumé? Robert E. Howard: “KNOW, oh prince, that between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities, and the years of the rise of the Sons of Aryas, there was an Age undreamed of . . ."
Would anyone have -- or know where I might find -- a fairly detailed map of Rome's Campus Martius, circa 46 BC? BEFORE the spate of building that marked the space during the early Imperial era? Thanks, in advance!
Re-sharing this one (and please be a friend and share it with YOUR friends!). Still getting accustomed to the whole "paid every two weeks" thing . . .
How I arrived on Bluesky:
Sometimes, we forget things we knew back in our much-younger years . . .
I've tried to recall some anecdotes I've not blathered on about for years. Also, my new phone's camera is LIT 🔥!
It was inspired by REH's "Gates of Empire" 🫡
"The Lion of Cairo reads like a cross between the Arabian Nights and a Hollywood blockbuster." —Steven Pressfield, New York Times bestselling author of Gates of Fire

“Profound and tragic . . . Oden’s masterful story of bloody battles, political intrigues, betrayal and romance offers a gripping portrait of the collapse of an empire.” —Publishers Weekly (starred review)

Remember: you can grab digital copies of my early books at my Ko-Fi store (and only there; they're not on the 'Zon). Men of Bronze, Memnon, or The Lion of Cairo!
I love the narrative of the losing side. This is why I keep circling back to my manuscript on Darius III. There is great drama and melancholy in the shadow of Alexander . . .
Added digital editions of my early books to my Ko-Fi store! Grab PDF/EPUB editions of Men of Bronze, Memnon, or The Lion of Cairo!
Giving this a re-share. Five tales of monsters, orcs, goblins, and the indomitable Grimnir!
. . . at the point where it turned at right angles with its former course, and flowed westward to empty at last into the distant sea. So, Kuthchemes should be northeast of the bend of the Styx.
People always put Kuthchemes in the wrong place. Per "Black Colossus": A few days' ride on camel-back to the southwest, as Shevatas knew, would bring the traveller within sight of the great river Styx . . .
Dropping a collection of monster tales! Grimnir and his kin, with orcs and goblins galore . . . just in time for the spooky season!
I FINALLY got a reader positioning scammer email! I was beginning to worry . . .
This is me. Burned out so bad I don't even feel like reading . . .
It's what idiots think a genius must be.
