Food can be one of the most meaningful ways we share culture and community. As the owner of Los Tios, German Mejia reflects on bringing dishes like pupusas, chicken, and beef plates to Del Ray.

Learn more about Hispanic Heritage Month at alexandriava.gov/HispanicHeritage.

A festive poster from the City of Alexandria celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month. It features flags and vibrant decorations. A quote from German Mejia highlights the popularity of Salvadorian dishes at Los Tios in Del Ray: "When I got my permit and I wanted to put my menu, I was feeling like so sad to not put the Salvadorian dishes. I decided to put a little corner of the Salvadorian dishes... everybody liked it. Platos tipicos... pupusas, chicken, and beef... everybody comes for the Salvadorian menu." The background is a warm orange with colorful flowers and patterns.

Quote with your favorite City Academy memory <3 This Fall, we have 31 civically-minded Alexandrians joining us for a peek behind the curtain at how Alexandria's municipal government works. We can't wait to see what they learn over the next 6 weeks!

It's Cybersecurity Awareness Month! Use long, unique 16-character passwords and a password manager to stay safe. Real criminal dpxaker sold tools that test thousands of password combos per second, making short, reused passwords easy targets.

This image features a person in a blue jacket holding a mug, smiling in an indoor setting. Text on the image reads: "Meet Dpxaker: He cracks 1,000 passwords a second. Is yours one of them? Outsmart him. Find out how!" Below, it says "Don't Make It Easy For Them" and "Cybersecurity Awareness Month."

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Cybercriminals rely on people taking shortcuts. Simple habits like strong passwords, multi-factor authentication (MFA), software updates, and pausing before responding to unexpected messages all make it much harder for scammers to succeed.

Image depicting a person reading a note in a grocery store aisle. Text overlay reads: "Inflation doesn't hurt cybercriminals. No one wants to cover a scammer's weekly grocery bill. ➔ GET THE TIPS." The Cybersecurity Awareness Month logo and "Stay Safe Online.org" are visible. The phrase "Don't Make It Easy For Them" is in the bottom left corner.
