Echoing everyone else, stay safe. ๐Ÿซ‚

Agreed (as someone also scarred from merciless early-years taunting). Even as much as I loathe T*p, there's billions of valid reasons to go after his actions and character instead of needing to target his appearance. (I've been guilty of doing that myself, and am not proud of it.)

That seems a kind of perfect metaphor for what actual hearts are like. <3

The heaventree of stars hung with humid nightblue fruit. (A favorite line of mine from Ulysses by James Joyce.)

There needs to be a word for "this hurts to read/hear because I'll never experience this again, but it's outweighed by the solace of seeing/hearing this beautiful thing beautifully expressed".

A little bit, yeah.

@thatnoahgrey.bsky.socialSep 27, 2026, 4:46 PM

I often feel this way about every film by Robert Eggers and Hayao Miyazaki. (And *maybe* Denis Villeneuve, Guillermo del Toro, and Hitchcock.)

@thatnoahgrey.bsky.socialSep 25, 2026, 3:15 PM

<3 Oh wow! I hadn't heard of Wildwood, but now that'd be at the top of my next-movie list (if I dared to make one). I don't think I've ever seen a stop-motion film I haven't loved.

I'm also 52 exactly, and... desperately aspiring to this. To stop being weighed down by feeling that my age is one more of the many ways the world's shutting me out. To aspire to this same sense of joy that can say: I still have so much love and intelligence and delight to offer if given the chance.

"Stimming"

How much *me*
can I be for you?

Do you need
the one who meets your eyes,

or can I be
the one who hears you?

The one whose hands
become birds?

The one who catches facts
and follows them for miles?

The one who catches songs
and flowers at the mouth?

The one who brings not water,
but the river?

The one who brings not one star,
but the sky?

The one who cannot say
*I love this*

without meaning:
Iโ€™ve built an altar,

come dance, dance, dance
beside this flame?

There's some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for.

A photo of me standing in front of a display advertising Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey film, taken by my sister. I'm leaning on my cane and wearing my old Owl of Athena shirt.

Oh, I think this may be beyond me now. This isn't photography or photoblogging anymore; this is the Sean McCormick Cinematic Universe. :-)

I've been curious about Obsidian for awhile โ€” how does it compare to Scrivener for you?

@thatnoahgrey.bsky.socialSep 12, 2026, 4:01 PM

The poem's been near sacred to me all my life, but I knew it wouldn't be the poem (any more than Joyce's Ulysses was). I went in expecting a *vision* of it, and thought that on its own terms as a film, it was masterful. (Almost wrote a 15-post thread, but for me bsky isn't a place to blog.)

Thanks so much! I saw this in full 70mm IMAX โ€” the first time I've *ever* seen any IMAX film โ€” and it practically took me out of my skin in the best way. Greatest theater experience of my life, hands down.
