Yesterday I watched all of Grandpa and Grandma are Young Again and thanks to my years of research for Anime's Inside Jokes I was immediately able to understand this extremely obscure reference.

As someone who grew up in the 90s I can say with first hand experience that TV was objectively better when it catered almost exclusively to a low and middle brow mass market audience. Fuck the Sopranos, please just give me the X Files, Law and Order and something equivalent to Baywatch.

I think I read somewhere recently that Netflix said they're done chasing after the prestige TV market. To which I say "good", we're already drowning in prestige TV to the point the term is all but meaningless.

Was watching the third season of 100 Girlfriends today and had a sudden revelation. Is the origin of the 3 eyes gag really just Nobita from Doraemon? I've been trying to get a streight answer on this for almost ten years now so it would be great if it were that simple.

I saw my racing obsessed buddy playing the new Pod Racer entry on Steam last night. I asked him how it was going and he gave an enthusiastic seal of approval surely good enough to be slapped on the back of the box.

Remember that one Aniplex panel at Sakuracon where they announced they were gonna sell a Gurren Lagann set and it was gonna be $500 USD. Happy to see we have more reasonable options these days.

My brain couldn't handle it anymore so I baked some cookies today. You know it's a good recipe when it's hand written in a leather bound book so old the spines disintegrated and has to be held together with a rubber band.

We're being visited by the deer again. This one didn't even get up as I walked by about six feet away.

I made the mistake yesterday of watching an episode of The Food Diary of Miss Maid yesterday while at work and hungry. Almost broke down in tears over how much it made me want some Taiyaki, it even managed to capture the joy of those extra bits of crispy batter along the edges.

Far Cry 6 is in the current Steam sale with a price drop taking it from $79 all the way down to $7. Even with a deal like that I still don't want that rancid garbage in my library 🤢🤮

Though I will say it feels like it peaks at the middle and trails off a bit. You could almost tell people to stop watching after the Tojima vs Tackle duel since nothing that happens after comes even close to feeling as much like a climax as that one fight.

I finished Tojima Wants to be a Kamen Rider. Absolutely excellent, the music was outstanding thanks to TeddyLoid and I can't recall the last time I watched an anime with fights that were this enhanced by the SFX. Half the punches sounded like they were using recordings of actual gunshots.

I started watching Hanaori Still Wants to Fight in the Next Life and nearly fainted upon seeing a Pani Poni Dash reference. Right here right now in the year 2026, will wonders never cease.

Damn, how'd they get a camera in my place?

Also, to keep up with my Isekai quota I watched all of The Other World's Books Depend on the Bean Counter. Honestly I could have done without the whole Yaoi thing, I'm here to see a modern day sallaryman whip a fantasy world into shape with double entry book keeping and rigerous financial auditing.

@le7744.lnan.site burn in hell.

I watched all of A Witch in Mongolia today. It was wretched, I didn't enjoy it in the slightest, the whole thing felt like desperately sweaty prestige bait without any of the skills needed to back it up. I hope it never receives a second season and gets memory holed as soon as possible.

I finished the second half of the Oguri Cap anime and came away with possibly my favorite screencap of the whole year.
