For as much as I genuinely, positively *hate* Adobe and refuse to give them my money, it's baffling to me seeing how AI vibe-coded decomps of their programs are going viral. I thought we were supposed to find alt programs or [redacted], not jump in the AI enshittification bubble.

Gonna get some as much peachtober work banged out today after work that I can; already shown what I'm planning for flowerbed. Compass is likely a radar screen to practice OSL. Sail will be a not subtle reference to treasure planet. No clue yet what I'm doing for bramble.

@wyrmholeonastring.bsky.socialOct 12, 2026, 3:29 AM

It'll be explained in considerably more detail with its associated writeup and even more in the compendium I'm slowly compiling in the middle of this, but I'm using it as an opportunity to explore some ecology of my story AFCB and the physique/anatomy of the focal species within the story.

It might be another day til I'm catching up again on peachtober. Tomorrow will mark 4 I need to make to catch up (flowerbed/compass/sail/bramble). But! I figure instead of just... Posting nothing, I'll drop a bit of the drafting I have for flowerbed I'll pick up after work tomorrow

#peachtober #sketch #2DArt A few days late on this one, but finally figured out what I was doing for Plum. Skipped over Flowerbed yesterday to go ahead and get this one out here and will be working on it next. More in alt-text

A scissor-tailed bird with iridescent feathers perches atop a grey branch adorned with pink, flowering plum blossoms.

Plum took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out what I was making for it compared to the other prompts thus far. My personal insistence on avoiding the surface level, mundane interpretation of a prompt really bit me in the ass on this one. Sometimes, going for a surface level idea *is* good and can produce something that I'm just as proud of as my weirder works.

For this one, I decided to do a brief refresh my memory on the presentation of Plums, their uses, growth cycle, etc, and settled on the idea of a bird perched among their blossoms.

For line and detail work, I wanted to take a slightly different approach than my usual and go for quick, heavily defined but scratchy lines filled in with progressive color shading from light>dark. The flowers consisted of a peach color leading into deep burgundy, the branch consisting of greys and light browns, and the iridescence of the bird going from light green to bright blue, pale purple, and a dark, slate blue.

Music listened to while making this was me bouncing back and forth between Sign of the Times and Ma Meilleure Ennemie.

Got a cheap charger at a local electronics upcycling store and can confirm SHE LIVES! Still need to get some parts to get her where I want, but I'm much more committed now to actually reviving this

#peachtober #@2Dart #sketch 'Sticker' prompt, inspired by the livery adorning racing and piloting helmets, the absolute mess that is my own sticker-covered nalgene, and a base color-scheme serving a reference both to Lego Ice Planet and the Muunilist-10 LAAT/ARC-170. Oh and Wipeout Pulse OST.

#peachtober #2Dart Today's Bubble prompt. Thought it'd be fun to try out a mostly monochrome piece broken up by extremely bright cotton-candy colors. Also totally didn't turn this into an excuse to make a heavily stylized, unrealistic self portrait based on a recent selfie. More in alt-text.

A neon pink bubble expands in front of sky-blue reflecting aviators. Hopefully it doesn't stick to her already messy hair and earbuds.

This is inspired by a bunch of different things for me, chiefly the trope of "cool" operator type characters saying "nah, not today." and blowing some bubble gum before something horrific happens on screen. My favorite visual gag on the trope is a clip in Gunsmith Cats where May Hopkins is seen wearing sunglasses with the same blue tint that I've used here gleefully biting retention string off a flash before throwing it.

Further inspiration is immediate lived experience both with how my transition has been going but also my workout/dieting progress. I started chewing gum somewhat regularly as a means to help me not snack so often which has definitely helped, but unfortunately I can't blow bubbles. There's also a selfie I took recently that just had me like "Oh no I actually look like I'm starting to have some semblance of confidence for the first time in my life!" which also informed this piece.

As two last things, I'm starting to attempt more diagetic or at least more sensical placement of my signature and date/title of pieces I work on. It's not easily feasible for everything, but like in the Cinnamon prompt, I thought here was a good opportunity to try running my signature like a tattoo across the collarbone and date/title adjacent. As for what's playing on those earbuds? I think it'd be the same music I listened to while making this piece - a couple mixes I stumbled on today marked as "Mr. Kitty After Dark Vibes" with Ryan Gosling in their thumbnails. Standouts were Sidewalks and Skeletons Goth, Mareux's The Perfect Girl (slowed instrumental), and Phantogram's Black Out Day.

Thinking I finally know what I'm gonna do for Plum, but I don't know if I quite have the energy to produced a finished entry for it tonight. In the meantime though, I absolutely can get a finished entry for today's Bubble prompt up here. I'll likely work on Plum and Sticker simultaneously tomorrow

@wyrmholeonastring.bsky.socialOct 7, 2026, 8:01 PM

I haven't the faintest what to make for the peachtober Plum prompt, so I'm skipping it for now as I let myself work on Bubble. Maybe I'll know and catch up with Plum once I'm done with Bubble or Sticker.

#peachtober #sketch 'Cinnamon,' unfortunately a day late. Had a long day on the 5th and was literally falling asleep while making this. Thanks to the suggestion from @artemis-arting.bsky.social, I interpreted it through the lens of an alien spice trader setting up shop for the day.

#peachtober #2DArt #sketch Day 4 Spell, with a take on a classic Bog Witch stirring the cauldron. More in alt-text

The silver-haired, white-eyed witch stood before her cauldron. In her hand beheld she a heart, its contents pouring throughout the mixture as long nails pierced it five times over. The old heart could not save the life of its former host, but, perhaps, it could help save many more.

I was at a confused impass as to what I should make for this prompt. My partner suggested a stereotypical witch and I was like "uhhhh no, you know how I like to try and think outside the box a lot of the time."

I'm glad I followed her take on this because I really like how this came out. The vibe is great, the finished piece is really close to what I had in my head, and it gave me a chance to "engrave" the prompt name in Elder Futhark across the face of the cauldron both to make it look runic but also as a fun way to incorporate the title. The runes themselves are directly referenced from Carolyne Larrington's "The Norse Myths: A Guide to the Gods and Heroes," p.36.

Music listened to this time around was a couple varying mixes from an artist I recently discovered called Paleowolf. They do some really neat dark ambient mixes inspired by paleontology and paleoanthropology that just matched the vibe really well that I wanted to achieve here. Also love that they're anti-ai, so that's a nice bonus.

May contain graphic violence

#peachtober #2Dart #sketch Day 3 prompt for peachtober, take on "Moose." Decided to aim for a piece inspired both by cave-art and the emotive album covers of post-rock bands like TWDY

#peachtober #2dart #specevo My take on the Chimney prompt, heavily inspired by Barlowe's striders in Expedition, and second favorite creature design I've come up with over the past few years. More in alt-text

Violet pillars of chitin marched through the glacial field, absorbing any water and nutrients they could filter through the many esophageal intakes of their feet as lichen-rich ice bent and cracked to each step. The heat generated within their thick-shelled bodies set aflame all caloric intake for digestion, spewing out plumes of thick, grey-black smoke from dorsal chimneys as waste removal. Birds flocked on and around them, filter feeding off the detritus within the ash as Sparrow-tails gathered below to take advantage of the ambient heat.

There are technical aspects I think I could've done better here - especially regarding the smoke's rendering - but overall I really enjoyed creating this piece and am so glad I was pushed into continuing my trend of trying to really think outside of the box, coming up with an absolutely massive animal that has literal chimneys on its back. I had originally thought of doing a more mundane piece centered on something I had seen regularly on my way to and from work, but this is so much more satisfying to me.

I also fully admit that this is heavily inspired by the work of Wayne Barlowe and his wonderful book Expedition. Those familiar will instantly catch what I'm referencing with this piece, and he has greatly informed my sense of creature design over the past few years.

Musically I'm not really sure on this one. Normally I can sit down with a piece, find some music for it and go "Yes, this is the music that matches what I'm aiming for!" But I just really *couldn't* here. However, since it became a tradition in my personal circles to always recommend some music with each challenge piece, I will do so anyway by pointing you to one of my all time favorite dungeon/dino synth albums: Slow and Heavy Tyrannic edition by Diplodocus. Its vibes are superb and late 90s sense of documentary music editing is quite lovely.
