"You'll see us grow to 20 gigawatts by 2030." Voltus just raised $225M to pay factories, warehouses and big box stores to use less electricity. DOE says the country needs 80 GW of this by 2030. Dana Guernsey wants Voltus to be a quarter of it. New episode of Energy Empire out now 🗽🔌

"But the bigger lesson from California is political. For too long, the clean energy industry has assumed that having the better idea—and friends in office—was enough. It isn’t," says @jigarshahdc.bsky.social www.deploy-action.org/newsroom/bei... via @deployaction.bsky.social 🔌💡
In TT#17, we review the reporting on the Senate’s bipartisan permitting reform bill (BAAJA) and find that on net, it would be far better for the energy transition than having no reforms. We should support it and not let the perfect be the enemy of the good. www.transitiontimes.net/tt-17-my-ver...
Holy shit.
hahaha wow not bad for a possum who lives in a tree and does not have a real job

Solar Energy Corporation of India just auctioned 1 GW of renewable power that has to match a coal plant's schedule — checked every 15 minutes, penalties for shortfalls. It cleared at ₹5.25/kWh (~$55/MWh), fixed for 25 years. New comparable coal PPAs opened at ₹5.38-6.30 plus fuel price inflation.
7 developers were awarded a contract for 1,070 MWs and now have to deliver 90%+ reliability over 25 years, it's a real stress test for the "renewables can't be baseload" argument. Now time for folks to execute.
For years the pitch against renewables was "sure, but can they be dispatchable?" India's grid operator just found 16+ companies willing to bid solar+storage to reach coal-plant reliability (90% demand fulfilment, 15-min compliance) at a cheaper price than new coal.

The cheapest, fastest tools already exist, and they sit waiting for our culture and norms to change.
‘total outlay of INR 1.86 trillion, with INR 500 billion (US$ 5.2 billion) allocated specifically for 50GWh of BESS…INR 1.37 trillion for intra-state transmission infrastructure to enable up to 135GW of renewable energy’
Process your fear of future lack of planet into grief so you can SEE how easy saving the world can be. It's literally just LOVING life too much to hoard corpses. Money is corpses to eat later. 💲 >💚 = 🔥🌎 Moral clarity can SEE reality. Evil-dumb fear panic-eats, running from its OWN monstrosity.
it is mentally, intellectually, spiritually, exhausting to be dealing with the same injustices for an entire lifetime when we know, observe, speak on or report on the structural & societal norms causing & worsening it all. (this applies to many issues & news stories. cornell 7 most on my mind.)
Good discussion on permitting reform with @jigarshahdc.bsky.social & @heinrich.senate.gov open.spotify.com/episode/6dkK...
