Thank you to everyone worried about Isaias. The good news is, it turned east and hit near Destin, FL instead of here. The bad news is it still has knocked out power to about 30,000 locally, and it toppled my "antenna pole" that I was unable to get help lowering. The HF loop was unaffected, yay.

A metal antenna pole is bent in two about 10 feet off the ground, collapsed from intense winds from Hurricane Isaias in Baldwin County, Alabama. On the ground are a TV antenna, a discone and 400 MHz beam antenna. The W6LVP active loop remains standing, as it was mounted closer to the ground.

Post-hurricane reception of the @swradiogram.bsky.social via WINB 9265 at 0230z. A very good signal until near the end of the broadcast.

The only reason I don't have a full set of images is HDSDR locked up about 10 minutes into the show! Grr.

A post-'cane followup is coming…

I'm guessing this broadcast will carry KBC's regular programming, but well see. Eric says it may only be heard in Europe.

Kicking off a new week of @swradiogram.bsky.social decodes with results from the WINB 9265 2330z broadcast. Very fuzzy!

Not sure if I'll be available to decode anything tomorrow or Saturday as we await landfall of Isaias, but I'll certainly try.

One last look at the previous @swradiogram.bsky.social before decoding this week's show… from the 0930z WRMI 7780 broadcast.

Thanks, Al, I'll be doing my best! Due to health issues I can't physically lift and mount the storm shutters (they're big heavy metal slabs) so the house and the antennas are going to be exposed the whole time. Fingers crossed that being on the west side of the eye keeps me relatively safe.

Finally, four more @swradiogram.bsky.social images, this time from the 'red-eye' 0800z WRMI 5850 broadcast. Very good reception, with a special psychedelic interpretation of the Hungarian Országház, with the sync problem proving to be a real, erm, Pesht for this broadcast.

I'll see myself out.

Next up, four more @swradiogram.bsky.social images, this time from the "it's basically like a big AM station" WRMI 5050 kHz broadcast at 0030 UTC. No major sync issues here, either.

Four images from the WRMI 9955 @swradiogram.bsky.social that aired at 1430 UTC. I don't see any sync issues in these images, either! I do wonder how much better the quality would be if WRMI didn't use such aggressive EQ for the audio.

Looks like a good signal for this week's @popshopradio.bsky.social via WRMI 5950, but it did drop off a bit during the digital data segment. Looking forward to hearing Lawrence Welk's take on Green Tambourine, lol.

Ray Stevens-Mr Businessman
Monument 45-1083 (USA 🇺🇸 ) 1968

Ray Stevens, is an Grammy Award winning singer, songwriter and comedian. He was born in Clarkdale, Georgia, near the city of Atlanta. He attended college as a business major, but switched to music before dropping out to pursue his musical interests.

Signing to Prep records in 1957 at age 18, he released his first single, a country/ rockabilly song called Silver Bracelet. It, and subsequent singles failed to chart. It wasn't until 1961 that he cracked the Hot 100 with his novelty record Jeremiah Peabody's Polyunsaturated Quick-Dissolving Fast-Acting Pleasant-Tasting Green and Purple Pills on Mercury records, a song that had the longest title to ever hit the Hot 100.

While he is well known for his hit novelty records such as Ahab the Arab, Gitarzan and The Streak, Ray Stevens also had a serious side. His 1968 recording of Mr Businessman is a satirical take on the rat-race that drives the greed of big business. While the record cracked the top 30 in the USA and top 10 in Canada, it is rarely heard on oldies radio perhaps due to the bean counting businessmen who run corporate radio today.

Poor Tommy Lee isn't looking to hot in this @radioactiveal.bsky.social birthday image of the week, from tonight's #MightyKBC broadcast on WRMI 7780 at 0900 UTC.

From Alabama.

Another great signal for the 2300z @swradiogram.bsky.social via WRMI 9455. The sync is still an issue but it's not too noticeable on most of the images. Love Jinling's Hungarian night photo and the colorful DC rowhouses! From the soggy Alabama gulf coast.

"Close enough for horseshoes and hand grenades"

The Friday 0230z @swradiogram.bsky.social via WINB was successfully received, with 10 of 11 images decoding. The signal was great for most of the show but fell off hard at the end.

To be different, this episode was done with AndFlMsg on my old phone.

A collection of images received via the Shortwave Radiogram, transmitted at 0230 UTC by WINB 9265 kHz, and received on the Alabama gulf coast with a W6LVP active loop, RSP-1 SDR and decoded with the AndFlMsg Android software on an old Galaxy S8 smartphone.
@sportyporcupine.bsky.socialOct 3, 2026, 2:44 AM

Has AndFlmsg or Tivar ever been updated to work on newer Android devices? I've got it on an ancient Amazon tablet and an even more-ancient Galaxy S8 but those are on their last legs and not regularly used. It won't work on my Lenovo or Pixel.

Going back in time for a moment, amazingly I got 5 images from the 7780 WRMI 0930z broadcast! Most of the text was a mess, though. I had no usable reception of the earlier 15570 broadcast, though that's pretty normal for where I live.

@sportyporcupine.bsky.socialOct 2, 2026, 6:35 AM

The only good image from the 2330z @swradiogram.bsky.social via WINB 9265. Looking forward to the corrected version later in the week.

Blue roses.

Poor low band conditions mean I didn't get any reception at all of last night's Pop Shop Radio on WRMI 5950, and only three images from the 0800z @swradiogram.bsky.social via WRMI 5850. From coastal Alabama. Thanks for the train content, @popshopradio.bsky.social!

The 0100z WRMI 5050 broadcast was almost as weak but thanks to different audio processing and a relatively decent noise floor for a change, all images decoded well and there were no major text errors.

Some images from two recent @swradiogram.bsky.social "Candian Railroadgram" broadcasts… first, just a few very fuzzy posters from the 1430z WRMI 9955 broadcast. The aggressive audio EQ definitely hurt MFSK64 reception, with several missed image triggers.
