β²οΈ The findings point to working time reduction being a promising and under-explored policy instrument in climate mitigation
π‘ The estimates from the brief's modelling suggest that a 1% increase in annual hours worked is associated with a rise in CO2 emissions of over 0.4%, with hikes also found in energy use and ecological and carbon footprint
π These are the findings of new research from ETUI economist Mehtap AkgΓΌΓ§, which takes data from 30 European countries to produce a robust empirical assessment of the relationship between working time and climate impact
