During the event, Italy's Ambassador to the OSCE Andrea Cascone and Finnish National Focal Point on the Safety of Journalists Salla Nazarenko also underlined the importance of MC Decision 3/18 for OSCE participating States. 3/4

Today, we presented translations of OSCE Ministerial Council Decision No. 3/18 on the Safety of Journalists into five Central Asian languages and Mongolian, under the auspices of the Safety of Journalists project, to promote the Decision’s accessibility and implementation. 2/4

“A translated document does not change a law. It does not investigate an attack or prevent harassment. And it does not end impunity. But it can make something else possible: informed implementation,” I said at our event at the OSCE Academy in Bishkek. 1/4

On the 20th anniversary of the murder of Anna Politkovskaya, a prominent investigative journalist with Novaya Gazeta, I reiterate my call on the Russian authorities to bring the mastermind behind her killing to justice and to ensure safety of all media professionals.
