Britain’s science advisers warned today it risks becoming an AI customer rather than a creator.

This is the next digital divide: those who use AI vs. those who decide how it works.

Access is not agency.

Is “faithful to the book” really the best test of a film adaptation?

I’m not sure anymore. A movie can change the plot and still preserve the soul of a book—or copy everything and somehow lose it.

Which adaptation got the spirit right?

Absolutely—opportunity matters. But 90 million copies across 29 books is where it gets interesting. Right place, right time may open the door; turning reader demand into something repeatable over and over again takes something else.

Freida McFadden has now sold 90 million copies across 29 novels. Whatever you think of the books, that isn’t a fluke—it’s reader-market fit at enormous scale. Publishing talks a lot about prestige. Readers vote with time and money.

What do you think she understood that others missed?

“Performative reading” has been getting attention lately: people carrying impressive-looking books partly to signal taste or intelligence.

Honestly, if pretending to be a reader eventually turns someone into a real one, I’m fine with that. 😂

Six tech leaders received America’s top science and technology medals yesterday. Five were born outside the U.S.; only Michael Dell was U.S.-born.

America’s tech strength has never been just a story of homegrown talent. It has always been shaped by talent flowing in from around the world.

Fewer ads and trees? That’s a surprisingly strong pitch. 😄 I may have to try it.

The 2026 Nobel in Medicine went to optogenetics: using light to control specific neurons.

In RIFT: Gestalt , Li Tao’s team uses resonance waves to treat psychiatric illness and drug addiction.

We’re not there yet. But reality just moved one step closer to my 2033.👍✌️

😂 Fair. With an opener like that, “Ignore” suddenly feels rude.

2026 Nobel Physics: Francis Halzen won for turning a cubic kilometer of Antarctic ice into a telescope for “ghost particles.”

I love this kind of science: when the universe won’t reveal itself directly, we invent a new way to listen.

Anne Carson just won the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature—for work that refuses to stay inside one form: poetry, prose, translation, criticism.

Maybe the lesson for writers is simple: genre is a shelf, not a cage.

What’s a book you love that refuses to fit neatly anywhere?

I agree that detectors aren’t the solution. But I think that’s exactly why institutions reach for them: trust doesn’t scale, so they look for a measurable shortcut. The danger is when a probabilistic signal starts being treated as proof.

AI detectors are becoming literary gatekeepers.

Pangram says its use is seeing a “huge upswing” across the literary world.

We may be normalizing a strange system: one black box deciding whether another black box helped write a book.

Should detectors ever judge authorship?

Something unexpected happened on my Facebook this week: a casual movie post passed 164K views, with readers joining from around the world.

For a page I never treated as a creator platform, that feels surreal.

No strategy. No CTA. Just an honest reaction.

The Washington Post says “doesn’t read” is becoming a dating dealbreaker. 📚

I get it. Reading says something about curiosity, attention span, and how we see the world.

Could you date someone who never reads—or worse, pretends to? 👀

Smartphones are everywhere in real life, but fiction still seems unsure what to do with them.

Texts, DMs and notifications are part of how relationships happen now. So why do they still feel awkward on the page?

Do phones belong in fiction—or kill the story?

A prize-winning novel was dropped from the Goncourt list amid claims it was AI-written. The author denies it—and the accusation began with an AI detector.

We now have machines judging whether humans wrote like machines.

Should a detector ever be enough to judge authorship?

Another trip around the sun. 🎂

Getting older makes you realize how little you actually need to hoard.

So today, the eBook of my sci-fi novel RIFT: Gestalt is free on Amazon for 24 hours. Consider it a digital birthday drink on me.

🥂 Enjoy!

That absolutely counts. Maybe the social side of reading doesn’t have to mean book clubs—it can be as simple as sharing a review or passing a good book along. I love the little library idea.
