3/ 10 years into their partnership with @breakfreefrom, CESTA connects local work to a global fight: a treaty regulating plastic's entire lifecycle, not just what's left behind.

2/ For CESTA, the crisis doesn't start with waste. It starts with how much we produce, and who pays the cost. "Recycling isn't the only solution" the fix has to reach production itself.

For more than 20 years, CESTA has challenged the idea of using, discarding, and forgetting. In El Salvador, plastic shows up in daily shopping and kitchens, but also in the streets and storm drains once the rains come. 👇 [1/3]

🌍 Today at the UN, we presented 2 million+ signatures calling for fossil-fuel companies to pay for the climate damage they cause. The powerful response: “Polluters must pay… We are with you. Use every tool at your disposal to hold the polluters accountable. You are on the right side of history."

In a report by @beyondplastics.bsky.social , researchers hid trackers inside Starbucks cold cups and dropped them into the company's own recycling bins. Not one made it to a recycling facility, and most ended up in landfills or incinerators instead. #GlobalPlasticTreaty [1/2]

Thanks to citizen science initiatives led by BFFP members we are able to measure the scale of plastic pollution around us and find out who is behind all that. This helps drive policy and systemic changes at local and global level. #EndPlasticPollution #CitizenScience #BreakFreeFromPlastic
