Exeter’s ‘Because of Rugby’ campaign has won a major award!

Created by Visit Exeter and Exeter City Council, the campaign celebrated local women in rugby and inspired more women and girls to get involved.

Citizens Advice Exeter has celebrated its 80th anniversary at Exeter Guildhall. The charity, first supported by a £200 Council grant in 1946, now helps around 5,000 people every year. The Lord Mayor presented a commendation marking 80 years of outstanding service.

A new five-year vision has been set out for Exeter city centre.

More than 340 consultation responses helped shape the strategy, with over 84% backing its overall vision.

Priorities include safety, cleanliness, homelessness, businesses and transport.

More than 100 walkers took on a 12km route across Exeter to raise money for St Petrock’s. 💙🚶 The Exeter Chiefs Foundation charity walk followed much of the Exeter Green Circle, with almost 25% more people taking part than last year. A fantastic effort for a great local cause.

Work is gathering pace on the £4m transformation of King George V Playing Fields.

The first phase will deliver a full-size 3G pitch and two PlayZones, with Exeter City Council contributing £465,000 towards the project.

Theatre Alibi has received £1,690 from Exeter City Grants to open a free creative space for children and families in St Thomas this October half-term.

Crafting, storytelling and games will be on offer at Emmanuel Hall.

The new water play facility at Heavitree Pleasure Grounds will now open in Spring 2027, alongside the new and refurbished play areas.

The St Thomas Splash Pad will stay open for the next few weeks, weather permitting.

If you’re paying someone to take your rubbish away, make sure they’re a registered waste carrier. Ask for their registration number, check it with the Environment Agency and always get a receipt.

Essential tree works will begin in Northernhay Gardens on Tuesday 22 September following recent safety inspections. The gardens will remain open, but some areas will be temporarily fenced off. Replacement trees will be planted this autumn and winter. Thanks for your patience.
