words, words from my first collection, 2012

What Is the Word -

What is the word for this
in French? The Russian I know -
a kind of chucking out. Brutal,
gets to the point though. The English applies restraint. A thing mislaid,
mistake. A stately horsedrawn flourish.
Miscarriage, o, how ravishingly slow.

happy #weirdpoemwednesday! ➰ feel free to share weird poems you wrote or ones you love by other poets :)

today we celebrate Ben Niespodziany’s (@neonpajamas.bsky.social) UNCLE TIME, available now from @gasherpress.bsky.social!

Ben is a spiritual figurehead of #wpw, & I’m so grateful for his poems~

A Leaf of Me
My father charts the hours. I become a twig. I'm the only kid on my school bus with rusted wings. I take up two seats. I don't want to go. My mother writes my absent notes in broken Polish. I'm loosening my collarbone. I'm lonely in my tree. The moon is a shattered kneecap, sappy and slow.My Sons
I give birth in a hearse to a curse of ghost sons. One won't let go of my hand. One won't nap in his casket. One won't quote the oldest disease. One won't bless me when I sneeze. One won't stop talking. All won't stop asking about dad. Their dad. "Where's dad?" they ask. "I am dad," I say, and my sons laugh. My ghost sons laugh. We wear sunglasses. We dance. The parade beside us quiets as we pass.A Leaf of Me
I was once a balcony. I am no longer a balcony. I am not a balcony. My father is a ladder. My mother is a clothesline.
I won't tell you what I am. I don't know you. I don't know why I'm here. My ears are my ears are my ears are my ears.UNCLE TIME
