Under the federal CALM Act, TV commercials must be the same volume as a show, but that doesn't apply to online streaming services. I think these online businesses need to play fair - and quietly. That's why I've introduced HB2790 with my colleague across the aisle Rep. Shaffer.

You've just gotten the baby to sleep while the older kids watch their favorite show on low volume, when suddenly - 🔊BOOM! - the super loud audio from an ad disrupts everything. That's not just a small annoyance - it's an unfair business practice that disrupts our lives!

Today, House Democrats gathered in the Capitol to renew our commitment to the Energy Affordability package we first shared in April. These bills would protect consumers by reining in corporate greed, improving grid efficiency, and regulating data centers. www.pahouse.com/Fiedler/InTh...

Last month, Pennsylvania got a dire warning about our energy future, with the PUC expecting drastic grid failures by 2030. I called a hearing in the House Energy Committee this week to better understand this report and hear recommendations from industry experts.

When working people pay the same taxes as billionaires, that's not "fairness" - it's elites exploiting a broken system. This week, @repcephas.com and I introduced a bill to repeal the most outdated and regressive tax policy in PA: the uniformity clause. local21news.com/news/local/p...

It doesn’t make sense that a worker making $7.25/hour pays the same taxes as someone making seven figures. But this is reality in Pa., where we have the 4th most regressive tax structure in the US. This is in part because of the outdated uniformity clause, one our biggest roadblocks to tax reform.

People’s utility bills have become totally unaffordable. Yet Pennsylvania’s utility monopolies aren’t struggling: they earn among the highest profit margins for their shareholders of any industry. Pennsylvanians should pay for safe and reliable service, not shareholder profits.

If a data center requires Pennsylvania's energy generation, transmissions, distribution or other grid infrastructure, the costs should be borne by the companies creating that demand - not by the Pennsylvania households and businesses that are already paying too high a price.

We don't know if AI spells the end of humanity, but we know this: the Pennsylvania PUC just last week warned of massive blackouts by 2030 if we don't rein in the energy demand from data centers. See the full interview at: youtu.be/W07ovBj7IA8?...

While Trump caters to Big Tech, it's up to states to act on AI and data centers. I spoke with Joel D. Smith on Face the State this weekend to talk about what we're doing in the PA House Energy Committee and beyond to make sure families and working people are protected from Big Tech's overreach.

New technology isn't inherently bad, but we need guardrails on AI and data centers that come from democratically elected leaders - not billionaire CEOs.

Congrats to Allegheny Valley School District on today's news of their Solar for Schools award! The project is estimated to save the district over $80,000 a year - those energy savings can be used for teacher salaries, classroom materials, facility upgrades, and more.

I was proud to take part in the historic #PAHouse session at Congress Hall. Taking time to reflect on the complicated founding of American democracy, I'm filled with renewed optimism for the opportunity to serve my South Philly district to make this a government truly of, by and for the people.

The PUC issued a dire warning this morning about the outlook of PA's energy future. As Chair of the House Energy Committee, I propose a new vision: more renewables, a modernized grid, investment in battery storage, efficiency measures to manage demand, and oversight on Big Tech's data centers.

Yesterday, the PA House of Reps gathered in Philadelphia for a special session at Congress Hall to honor America's 250th - of course I wouldn't pass up a chance to use SEPTA to get there!

"Fourth graders built solar-powered bugs, and fifth graders built racer kits in the school's cafeteria while learning about renewable energy." - I love this! S4S is not just about cutting costs, it's an educational tool, and a sign of hope for whole generations of students.

Wonderful new from Cambria Heights School District, whose #SolarforSchools arrays are already generating 90% of their buildings' energy this school year!

Extreme heat is a workplace safety issue. You have the right to speak up about unsafe conditions and to act together with your coworkers to demand a safer workplace.

Big Tech like to play by their own rules, hurting their customers and clients in the process. But with bold policy like my Digital Ads Tax bill and increased oversight over tech's unchecked power, we can balance the playing field in PA.

Superintendent Slade joined us in Harrisburg earlier this year to speak about the impact that Solar for Schools funds will have on continuing their district's solar investment - for decades to come.
