Perhaps my favorite autumnal album of all time. I hope it helps.

I keep reading that there have been no public executions in the United States for decades. Not true.
I saw Mike Gordon at the Sinclair back in 2019. The set was about 90 minutes long, I walked out of the venue feeling like that was a nice, tight set. Little did I realize there was a second set. Oh well
That’s 👏 why 👏 it’s 👏 called 👏 a 👏 hot 👏 take 👏
I’ve seen that on a few occasions and I totally respect the transparency
Exactly. I hate the convoluted theatrics of walking off stage, waiting for a minute or two, and then coming back
Related: a couple of days ago I saw a complete video of Dylan’s full Woodstock 1994 set and it was phenomenal. Tight set, Bob shredding on lead guitar, just aces all around
One thing I don’t understand about Springsteen fans is how they try to convince you that an ultra-long set is a good thing. “Dude, he plays for FOUR HOURS!” Listen, I’m a live music fan and I don’t want to see *anyone* play for that long
Another one: establish a universal cap on set times - 90 minutes, and you’re done
Hot concert take: abolish encores
Thinking of starting an Instagram account that’s just photos I take of products in supermarkets that I text to my wife (“is this the one you want,” etc)
Listening now on Bandcamp. Exquisite.
Yeah, it’s lyrically cringey and a lot of it has aged badly (“Bobby Brown” cracked me up as a 14-year old, but I rarely listen to it now). But from a musical standpoint, it’s a high-water mark for him, and contains a lot of punk energy (Belew is particularly well-used)
Except for orchestral music, but yeah
Not my first Zappa album but it’s the one that made me a superfan
Everyone seems to be doing this, so here I go
Perhaps my favorite autumnal album of all time. I hope it helps.
Western Massachusetts-based musician Thomas Erwin makes music under the moniker Niagara Moon, combining Bacharach sophistication with McCartneyesque pop smarts. His new album, “Cool Warm Night,” is a delight and I reviewed it for PopMatters.
I haven’t seen “Digger” (and honestly don’t know if I ever will), but based on what I’ve seen from trailers and clips, at its best, it appears to evoke Terry Gilliam, and at its worse, it appears to evoke Wes Anderson
Horse Lords at Deep Cuts in Medford, MA. What an insanely good band
