Yesterday we announced that our emagazine AL English Literature conference was fully booked. Today we need to tell you that the emagazine AL English LANGUAGE conference is fully booked. That's nearly 2000 students + their teachers to welcome at these two events next month!
We're just going through the final proofs for this - a must-have for anyone teaching the combined Lang-Lit A Level. The wealth of knowledge on display is astounding - well done @stockwell.bsky.social @jessnorledge.bsky.social @englangblog.bsky.social
We're hosting our EMC Associate Teachers + Ambassador Teachers via zoom later this month to explore the creative-critical. We'll look to open this work up to all-comers later in the school year, so keep an eye out for details via socials + regular emails
We're committed to helping secondary age students encounter literature in as many ways as possible - through our live events, magazines, competitions, anthologies and original publishing. Take a look at what we have to offer on our website englishandmedia.co.uk
We're proud of everything you do, Barbara!

I did this lecture in 2019. Much of what I say here remains v relevant imo. It helps explain what's been going wrong in subject English & the impact of a supposed emphasis on knowledge that has overemphasised memorisation, info 'about' texts', direct instruction, vocab, a 'novice' view of students.
