Night 13 of #solotober2026 featuring Mistborn: The Deck Building Game from @brotherwisegames.bsky.social, designed by John D. Clair and based on the @brandonsanderson.com series, which I adore.
Easily takes the No. 1 spot of the month so far. The solo mode was terrific. Took down the Lord Ruler!
Space stations don't build themselves! In Space Lab from @pandasaurusgames.com and Studio H, you'll recruit agents, expand your station, and chase a whole galaxy of scoring opportunities in just 20 to 25 minutes.
I break it all down in my latest review!
Another great Board Games Anonymous!
1. I unbox, learn, and play Blorp!
2. Freakboy unboxes Cascadia Alpine Lakes
3. @bingbread.bsky.social puts TowerRex insert together for Concordia
4. @baptergames.bsky.social solos Ceasar!

In the second installment of The Friday Five, I discussed some upcoming projects on the docket, Solotober progress, the wonderful board game community, and an upcoming game I will instantly back!
The September PWR (Playing, Watching, Reading) Recap is here!
Highlights included first plays of Wingspan Pocket and getting Slay the Spire to the table for the first time since 2024.
Floristry from UP Games is a quick, fun two-player game all about building the best flower window display, with a Dutch auction twist that keeps every round moving. Overview & thoughts are up 👇

Happy Friday, everyone, and welcome to the first ever Bapter’s Friday Five!
I figured the first one could start off with five things about me! How selfish, right? 😁
In today's post, I take a look at some expansions to games that a lot of folks are calling "essential". Are they actually, though? And at what point does an expansion become essential?
I’m thinking Mondays might officially become review days, so let’s kick the week off with Tembo Tiles from Waterworks Games.
A quick, easy-to-learn pattern-matching game where you build your herds while trying to disrupt everyone else’s.
Top 10 games that I’ve never played? How’s that make sense? Well it worked for me 🤣
Tried the solo mode of Pondscape from @capstone-games.com and Pink Troubadour this evening and really enjoyed it! Something about these games that have you building grids that just clicks for me.
I recently wrote posts about my favorite games I’ve played just once, followed by one on the Top 10 games I’ve never played. So, naturally, the only logical conclusion to this impromptu trilogy is a post about the games I have played a lotttt.
THE VOICE IS BACK.
🐸 Pond from @brotherminggames.bsky.social is a super cute, and sometimes straight up brutal, area control deck-builder where you lead your faction of frogs and long fwoogs as they compete to control the many areas of the pond.

In a board game content world filled with lists galore, I’m doing another one because there’s something special about falling in love with a board game at first play.
Look, I love nature. But the sheer number of games dedicated to nature themes makes me think the genre needs to go on an indefinite hiatus like your favorite late ’90s/early 2000s TV series. Here, I try and retheme some popular nature titles. This was fun!
A cozy world, gorgeous artwork, and a satisfying collect-and-complete puzzle.
I genuinely adored Pilgrims: Curious Adventures. My full review covers everything from the core gameplay to the production.
